It has 4x the cores as a Ryzen 2700 and it averages approximately 4x the points per day as a 2700. Nothing magic about that, although having that many cores in one machine instead of multiple machines is said to excite some people ;-)
We have several 2990WX in the team, though I don't have one personally. |

We have a thead about the beast here: https://xtremesystemsteam.org/index.php/topic,26389.0.html
----------------------------------------Mine was average over 100k Boinc points with OET (700k plus WCG points) Right now they're average about 91k Boinc points with Zika (641k WCG points) CPU running at 3.3ghz Temp 56C running Zika with ambient 22C Power draws 381W according to the kill-a-watt Noctua Air Cooler with 1 fan You can read more in that thread with different settings. Edit: you may have to register to see that thread though. Sorry it's out of my hand ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by VietOZ at Dec 20, 2018 1:41:44 AM] |

I've unhidden my hosts so you guys can take a look here.
----------------------------------------https://stats.free-dc.org/user/bwcg/342585 or https://boincstats.com/en/stats/15/host/list/0/0/342585/1 I'm about to hit 200 years with Zika, will switch to SCC soon. I'll try my best to answer any question here or at XS forum. I chill there almost all day everyday. :) |

I'm looking into buying my first Noctua CPU cooler for a Dell OptiPlex with a LGA1150 Haswell, if it'll even fit or mount. I don't like the 70C and higher temps. ----------------------------------------

A couple of things I want to mention so you guys can consider before jumping the gun.
----------------------------------------1. This beast can sucks ALOT of juice if overclock. I found it from 3.0ghz to 3.3ghz .. it draws around 380W. Anything higher you'll see a big spikes. I'm talking about 100% load 24/7 ... not those tests the reviewers ran. So far I've only attempted 3.5ghz running Zika and the power draw shot up to 445W with a 1.05 Vcore. Couple that with a 1080Ti , your system will draw well over 700W. I can't imagine what's the number will be at 4ghz, if I have a capable cooler for it to run 24/7 loaded. 2. Not any MB can handle this beast running 100% load 24/7. Well, at stock maybe. There are only 2 MB in the current market that can handle 24/7 load with mild overclock, the MSI Creation and the Asus ZE. I personally like the ZE better. Any other MB you try to crunch on 24/7 ... eventually you'll hear your VRM popping like fire crackers, unless you have some sort of direct cooling solution for your VRM. I have an open case (kinda like test bed) and a 120mm fan blowing full speed across the VRM and I'm still scared. Just my 2 cents and something to consider before you pull the trigger. It's kinda sux when the MB is the bottle neck. The CPU has a lot more head room but I'm just scared that it will wreck the MB in a long run. Hopefully they'll come out with some kind of better MB for this beast. |
