It seems, in my profile that my email provider refused to accept an email from WCG for the following reason: "SPAM detected" !?
----------------------------------------My email provider "free.fr" accept emails from other BOINC projects but not WCG !? What can I do to make my provider accept WCG emails ? Is there a problem for the coming Switching to Email-Based Login ? |

The best thing to do is to open a support ticket with your email provider and complain to them about blocking valid email. Email hosting companies generally ignore the sender of the email so this works best when a ticket is opened by their customer. If they do provide some information about why they are blocking our emails, you can pass that information on to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and we will see if there is anything we can do.
You will still be able to login to an account using an email address even if that email address cannot be sent email from World Community Grid due to the provider blocking them. |

Is there a white list somewhere where you can ask to accept all e-mails from a specific e-mail address or domain?
Does your mail provider also provide a name and address book for contacts? Usually addresses in there are considered "good". |

Hi franky82,
----------------------------------------free.fr and a couple of other French providers (laposte.net, bbox.fr, ...) are particularly boring ... and stupid in terms of SPAM detection / rejection. I would recommend you to create an e-mail address somewhere else (if you wish to have a dedicated domain, you can look by ovh.com). Cheers, Yves --- PS: By the way, Free is my ADSL provider, I do have only service e-mail accounts by them, but no productive e-mail addresses, just because of the problem you experience. |

Thanks for your answers!
----------------------------------------I try to put a new contact in the address book of my webmail provider and I contact my provider (Free.fr) with ticket : wait the answer... Wait and see ! |

free.fr and a couple of other French providers (laposte.net, bbox.fr, ...) are particularly boring ... and stupid in terms of SPAM detection / rejection. Yves, I think this has nothing to do with their ability to identify real SPAM mails. free.fr can altogether deliver me (and probably you too) obvious spams usurping names and logos of well know businesses (including free itself) and block any mail (obviously personal) from my daughter (yahoo.com). Clearly for laziness or incompetence reasons they block at node or even ISP level, and thus they do not have to scan mails at all.As the admin of another forum I could observe that for many mail servers including gmail and all servers from the Microsoft galaxy. Most of them claim that they detected spam including for as personal mails as registration confirmation mails. Only Microsoft servers (hotmail, msn, live, outlook) dared to say the truth (which does not make it more wise) : Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3140). Long ago, when WCG's project management was still interested with Community Advisors, I had mails from knreed rejected because, at this time, free had decided to block everything coming from (and maybe through also) ibm.com ! |

Before the change i checked my profil (as advised by WCG) and the mail address was @free.fr . The one from the beginning.
----------------------------------------In addition on the profil page there were red warnings that this address can no longer be used because " too much spam linked to that address" So i changed it for one @laposte.net and all worked well some days before and after the 28. I may say the adresses @free.fr are truly littered with spam. I hope the problem of [AF>Occitania]franky82 be solved soon THKS TO THE CONTRIBUTORS ABOVE ! their advice must be kept in mind. Proud to see our team and logo ahead ! cheers ![]() ![]() |

Problem seems to be resolved :
----------------------------------------I have put a new contact in the address book of my webmail provider and now I receive WCG notification again ! My profil don't show SPAM message now for my email with @free.fr ! ![]() |

What's the address to whitelist? I don't think this will help with "550 5.7.1 MAIL FROM domain needs a DNS record OX_405" but I'll give it a try.

Never mind, I think I found it. It's "support" at this domain. Now waiting for mail to be sent.
