Re: Work Avaiable

My settings say to download 0.2 days worth of work min, 0.3 days worth of work additional.

The average turnaround time of ARP is around 26 hours.

I haven't been assigned any work units from this project.
Do I need to change my settings before I'm eligible for these tasks?

Re: Work Avaiable

It looks like they're releasing batches of wu's around 8 minutes after the hour & half hour. If you set a cron job or scheduled task, you can enter your requests at that time.
Good luck crunching!

SHHH, I can't set to auto upload, why give it away

Re: Work Avaiable

I was wondering when some know-it-all would tell when work was available. Now lots of people can all try at the same time like a D.O.S. attack.
Best thing the admins can now do is set the work scheduler linked to a random time that changes every time.

Re: Work Avaiable

Not much of a know-it-all - all you need to do is look at the "sent" times. It's not rocket surgery ;)

Re: Work Avaiable

With the number currently available, they could set it to release 1 work unit about every 30 to 45 seconds. That would cover what is available so far.
cheers

Re: Work Avaiable

Well, after over 2 days of crunching, my machine has managed to just pass the 50% mark on the following 2 WU's - which have now passed their deadline. Thus, I hope that they now don't go to 'speed merchants' and that I get chance to return them before they're marked as 'too late'.

The 2 WU's in question, are;
ARP1_0002179_000_2
ARP1_0002149_000_2

Lesson for me - on this slower machine, as soon as I see a ARP WU come in, manually get it started ASAP, i.e., don't rely on BOINC starting it.

EDIT: Well, my machine didn't even get a chance to try and 'beat the clock' and return one of the ARP WU's before it's repair - as it aborted it with the following;
Aborting task ARP1_0002149_000_2: exceeded elapsed time limit 218461.17 (547904.24G/2.51G)

As such, I suspect that the other will go the same way....
Oh well....

That looks like they are giving just a shade over 2.5 days to complete a work unit once it has been started. That limit might be in place to catch a work unit which has gone into an infinite loop from blowing through the entire 7 day expiration.
Cheers
