Hi thanks
----------------------------------------These projects aren't selectable in the client for some reason, I'm running XP. My computer isn't super, 4x threads @ 3.5ghz, therefore, wouldnt it be better to stick with one project alone rather than spreading load across mulitple? Nice signature, is that MLK?
----------------------------------------Another quesiton = why is there so much downloading? I though my CPU+GPU was being used and the files on the main server. I didn't percieve WCG to work like this.... thanks again [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 5, 2020 7:04:51 PM] |

In the BOINC Manager, all you have to do is add the "World Community Grid" project from the list. Then, on the World Community Grid website, you can choose which specific sub-projects you want to run from the link BladeD provided.
----------------------------------------Downloading: The BOINC Manager downloads work units from the WCG servers, which are then run on your computer. Once they are done, the result is uploaded back to the WCG servers. Currently, there are work units available for CPU processing but not for GPU processing. You can lend you GPU processing to other BOINC projects, if you wish to do so. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Okay, since you posted in the Mapping Cancer Markers Forum, I guess you want to select it. One project is enough if there are work units available. Nice signature, is that MLK? Yes, it is! ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by BladeD at Mar 5, 2020 8:43:55 PM] |

ok thanks!
It seem WCG is the only client that actually still wokrs, there was another one I tried and it was a disaster so I just uninstalled it. Definately worth contributing to science, especially medical science. I'm not a big fan of astrology etc |
