Debian? If so, see this: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg...ead,41750_offset,0#613111

That being said, this project is about to run out of work for a while.

OT/ that thread discussing the imminent pause was locked with a message to say that was it, changed my profile upon reading from 20 to unlimited and got a haul of so far 200, all the way back to batch 3855, brand new work. That should last me 3 days on 4 cores... right before the 4 year gate. smile

It's a fresh install of LMDE 4, which I think is Debian "Buster" under the covers. I am new to Linux; if this project is about done, I think I will leave everything alone and just let some of them fail. Thanks.

I don't think the project's done -- at least I hope not -- just a short break between targets. The workaround takes less than a minute to do and is super easy. (I'm a Linux beginner too.) For what it's worth, this Signal 11/SIGSEGV issue also happens with HSTB units, at least until WCG builds new binaries for both subprojects.

The workaround is:

1. Stop the BOINC daemon: sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client stop
2. Edit grub: sudo nano /etc/default/grub
3. Change the line that has
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"

to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet vsyscall=emulate"

4. Save the file and exit nano (or your favorite text editor).
5. sudo update-grub
6. Reboot: sudo reboot

That temporarily puts virtual syscalls in emulation mode. Until WCG techs recompile the SCC1 and HSTB applications with the latest version of GCC for Linux, this is what we will have to do.
