Estimated vs actual run times

I caught two of the SCC betas, and they downloaded with an estimated run time of 21 minutes. They are both still in progress, but one of them seems to be taking more like 90 minutes, while the other one will probably take well over 3hours.
Not sure whether this mismatch between estimate and actual is reason for concern... confused

Re: Estimated vs actual run times

They just have an initial estimated FPOPS number in the header which is translated to a runtime estimated for your machine. In production the estimate is based on result feedback from many devices. SCC is normally having a fairly stable runtime, so it should deviate little after the dust has settled.

Re: Estimated vs actual run times

The run times are higher than estimate and variable.
On the same PC variance is more than double.
On Linux from about an hour up to 8 hours on slow Windows PC.

Re: Estimated vs actual run times

FWIW, I didn't even recall that I had Beta selected, but found that I had finished 12 of them today. On a Ryzen 3600 (Ubuntu 18.04.5), they averaged 43 minutes, with a low of 29 minutes and a high of 59 minutes. I don't know what the estimates were.

Re: Estimated vs actual run times

Remember, they cut the jobs to size once they know how long each ligand type runs. Accordingly one would expect the FPOPS to be adaptive too. I'm sure uplinger can clarify and I don't recollect if that trick is also applied to SCC.
