Presenting and discussing relatively little known products for renewable energy

Hello Friends,
to me, renewable Energy is important.

There are well known products, such as solar cells, but there are also little known oens:

Here is the first of my little known products series.

It is a heating system, that produces hot water and electricity from wood pellets using a stirling engine.

It has already been delivered to several customers in Austria, so no experimental product,
real life

The heating system is called ÖKOFen E. The letter E being important, it stands for electricity.

Here is the link to the page in English language:

https://www.oekofen.com/en-gb/myenergy365/

There is no financial link from me to the company. Just acting as a fan of renewables.

Best

Martin

Were you involved when we had Clean Energy projects here on WCG?

Re: Presenting and discussing relatively little known products for renewable energy

Hello Mike,
yes, you can see the (small) contribution to the project in my team.

But two projects on solar cells (phase one and two) should in my view be enough. There are so many serius deseases, so now health in my opinion should be the top priority on world community grid. Maybe you agree?

As far as renewable energy is concerned, it should be time for a big roll out i.e. usage on large scale.

And here is the next little known product/construction method of renewable energy for you, my friends.

It is especially important, because it can help safe water in irrigation projects and help expand the agrigculture in deserts and dry areas, in combination with a thing called terra preta.

Esplanation:
The construction method is called: Agrosolar or Agrisolar, delopped by Fraunhofer, Freiburg, Germany. It is important to add Fraunhofer, if you search in a search engine, because of the fact, that the word Agrosolar is used in many ways in the net.

Agrosolar by Fraunhofer is so good, because it is constructed in a way, that agricultural machines can drive below the solar panels. As I already said, in arid, dry areas, it can protect the crops from the hot sun and strongly reduce water consumption.

If we had a very large (!!!) area in a desert covered by Agrosolar, the temperature might reduced so much, that a cool wind could come and make the climate tolerable for humans.
We could make the sand land fertile with Terra preta, and with a combination of a large, very lagrege area of Agrosolar with relatively dense collectors, we could have a cool, friendly place in the desert, maybe just near a desert ghost town, a place, where our dear ancestors failed to settle. We will not fail, becaus we got better technology. We will be able to fullfil a mission they could not......

If we had addtional farming areas in deserts, it would mean more food production, maybe an end to hunger on our planet, at last!!

Look here, what Agrosolar looks like:

Information in English: https://agri-pv.org/english/agrivoltaics/

Greetings, Mike and thank you for your attetion. Any comments or questions most welcome

I'm sorry, Martin, but hunger is not the problem. The problem is that there are too many people. There too many people in too many places on this planet. Places where animals used to live are taken over by people. Places where trees used to grow to keep the climate cool, where animals used to live, are being mowed down to feed people. Animals are being driven away, wiped out. To grow more food to feed more people by using pesticides and insecticides we (the people) are destroying living things on our planet. Things that are useful (food) to other living organisms, beings, plants, animals, ourselves. More and more plastic is found in our oceans. All kinds of animals are eating plastic things, thinking it's food, or are getting entangled in plastic things, dying a horrible death. If we can't restore the numbers of animals and plants, by looking at the rate at which animals and plants are dying, than we (people) are destroying ourselves in the end.
Hunger is not an issue. Feeding too many people is the issue.
EDIT: Or rather, should I say, the human race is too dominant? devilish

Re: Presenting and discussing relatively little known products for renewable energy

Thank you adriverhoef, for expressing your point of view and contributing to the discussion.
Let me answer as the following:
If humans eat what they eat today, feeding them is indeed a problem for the environment.

But: If nutrition habits changes, there is a chance to feed them all in an ecological way.

If we eat meat, we need a lot of crops to feed the animals.

The same crops can be food for a much bigger number of humans, of we eat crops directly, i.e. vegetarianism.
And we do not have to be 100% vegetarians. Eating 50% less meat would help a lot.

For those who like sausage: There is sausage made form peas or soja available now.
And: The vegetarian sausage, that I found is packed in a material, that is 80% recycled.

Less plastics. I agree totally with you, that plastics is a terrible problem. I try to avoid it whenever I can.

I hope that i can make the grim picture of the ecological situation a little bit brighter. That is why I tried to start this little series on little known aspects of renewable engergy.
All the best and I greet you, adriverhoef. Congratulations to your huge contribution to World Community Grid. Many very very good badges on your side.

Re: Presenting and discussing relatively little known products for renewable energy

Hello my dear fellow crunchers,
I had hoped, that this would be a discussion, not a self dialogue.
I would really appreciate it, if little known products on the field of renewable energies
from countries all over the world would be presented here.

Americans, Finns, French, please, present some renewable energy product form your country.

Let us create a little technical diary.

Come on, give it a try.

Thank you. Renewables are very important
All the best
Martin

This non-electric pump, already in production, claims to be able to pump water up 100m, yet powered hydraulically with only 2m of head. I remember reading about it, or something similar, many years ago.
Bamford Hi Ramp Pump.

Re: Presenting and discussing relatively little known products for renewable energy

Hello friends,
thank you Glen David Short very much for your contribution.

The pump technologiy is very little known indeed.
And: Water is critical for farming and food supply in many countries.

So, your contribution about a rare, but market ready technology in the field of supplying water without using fossil fuels is realy of high value.

And here is the next little known, but valuable technolgy:

Harvesting High Level Wind for Energy with Kites on a line.

Please, look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwiXTye681M

Sky Sails is fascinating, and the best: As far as I know, it is market ready.

Renewable Energy must win and will win. We have to save our planet

All the best and good health for all
Martin
