Mac becomes unresponsive running WCG since Big Sur 11.2.1 (20D74)

Since the latest Big Sur update (11.2.1 (20D74)) WCG causes my MacBook Pro 15" mid 2014 core I7 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M to become unresponsive when using an external screen. Active Monitor does not show any additional CPU use than normal.

What is this task? wcgrid_opn1_autodock_7.17_x86_64-apple-darwin

I deselected myself from the beta program, but BETA OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU is still listed as a task, how do I purge this?

When I just use the laptop screen I have no issues, but using an external screen, which means the NVIDIA GPU is used, then the lap becomes unresponsive.

Thanks,

Theo

You can select the task and abort it on the BOINC Manager.
However, the process name you listed is not GPU related (it would be version 7.21 rather than 7.17).
