GPU and Remote desktop

All,

I know that when using remote desktop on Windows BOINC won't run GPU tasks.

What I'm not sure of is how this will affect the request for new tasks. Will the client still request GPU tasks when running remote desktop and keep them for running later?

I use remote desktop quite a lot so I'm trying to work out the combinations I need to be aware of. I know I can disable GPU tasks in my profile if I need to.

I have GPU tasks enabled at the moment but I have BOINC limited to only use 1 CPU due to fan noise so I don't fetch tasks very often. On average I probably process a workunit about every three hours when the PC is on.

Thanks

Re: GPU and Remote desktop

If you use VNC, it's free for 5 connections (or at least I think it was) you don't have to worry about the GPU being disabled by Windowz

I use it and it works well, you need to install the server option on the remote PC and the viewer option on the local PC. it also has an option to share printers too...

Re: GPU and Remote desktop

Thanks for your help.

I use the machine for several things and find VNC too slow.
