I have not succesfully downloaded any GPU packets for Intel/AMD/Nvidia for couple of horus, is the stress test over yet? same here: no downloads for several hours; I don't think though that we are through with all the tasks that were planned for the test. There seems rather to exist a problem with the download server  |

No AMD WUs here for a while either, the faster machine is happily running CPU WUs on all threads, the slower one still has GPU WUs to crunch on.

I seem to get one or 2 GPU work units at a time and my other computer hasnt received any work units from WCG in over a day so i decided to do work units from another BOINC project until the stress test is over

Have finished all OPNG WUs in my caches, and no new ones are arriving.
----------------------------------------BUT: My work caches contain huge numbers of CPU WUs, that I noticed about 24h ago. I think that when estimating the no of WUs to fill my caches with enough OpenPandemics WUs to cover my settings, eg 0.9d, my BOINC clients have calculated the number of WUs based on the average runtimes of both OPNG and OPN1 combined together. This average will have been brought down to a very low amount due to the very short OPNG runtimes, and pushed the BOINC clients' estimates of the no of WUs needed way up, which would explain these massive work caches. If we do nothing and no more OPNG WUs arrive, the average runtime will increase again and the problem will resolve itself, but only after the current cache generates lots of "Too Late"s in about 1 week's time. A short-term workaround would be to limit the no of OPN WUs allowed in our Device Profiles, and abort the current excesses. Longer-term, maybe WCG needs to find a way of avoiding this problem. The realisation by The Techs that this is a problem may be the reason that the flow of OPNG WUs has stopped so suddenly. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Rickjb at May 3, 2021 6:11:08 AM] |

... The realisation by The Techs that this is a problem may be the reason that the flow of OPNG WUs has stopped so suddenly. well, maybe so. But then it would be nice if they told us, so that we know about the circumstances. |
