Are any tasks going to be made available for OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU?

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU tasks?

My logs show I haven't received one since 12/25, so they may be halted at the moment. But not many GPU tasks are being sent out, as explained by knreed here:

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU tasks?

Hi bikeaddict. Thanks for the info. I have just re-joined after being gone for a couple months. I was just trying to maximise the computing power available here for covid research. I have an 8-cpu pc with gpu that I can leave on 24/7/365 if needed, which is what I did for the first year and a half of covid. Just trying to help the research, like all of us here. thanks, ...john

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU tasks?

This recent news post describes how they are splitting the work between CPUs and GPUs.

They have plenty of CPU work at the moment.

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU tasks?

I get a few tasks each day but not enough to keep a good GPU busy.
WUprop currently shows below numbers, they vary a lot but this is typical.
OpenPandemics - COVID 19 20168
OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU 10731

I gave up on the GPU several months ago. There is no point in waiting for work, since OPNG has plenty of support. Another GPU is just fighting over the supply, but adds nothing to the output.

My cards are better used on Folding. They have a lot of interesting projects if you look at the descriptions. They still have a few work units on their COVID Moonshot project, as they are just wrapping up their long study with very encouraging results.

Everyone should be seeing them now.

I just tried, and didn't get any.
That is the difference between enough work and not enough. You will just get some sporadically, but the project does not gain anything.

You can set a looping command utilizing the boinccmd tool (a tool distributed with the BOINC client) to automatically and periodically check for work from the project. You will get work fairly often this way.
