I have a Nvidia G-something 1030. Low profile with a tiny heatsink. It used to crunch OPNG tasks. While doing that it got so hot that, it seems, all of the volatile components of the grease of the ball bearing have evaporated.
----------------------------------------Now when the graphics card runs cold, the ball bearing runs dry and the fan starts to get noisy. Only when the graphics card gets hot again, the fan starts to run smooth and quiet again. So please please pretty please Krembil, get rid of the transient http error and appease my grapics card with workunits. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Boon-X at Oct 3, 2022 4:05:20 PM] |

There isn't any grease in any of those fan bearings, you have much more likely dust getting in which then starts to grind when the speed of the fan goes down...Now when the graphics card runs cold, the ball bearing runs dry and the fan starts to get noisy. Many times, you can pull the fan blade off from the frame and lube it up. Other fans will actually have a sticker over where the spindle is exposed, and you can drip in a couple of drops of oil in there. That'll help the fan noise, and usually lasts for about 6 months to a year.

Thanks for all your answers guys!

Install TechPowerUp GPU-Z and you will know exactly which video card you are using. When the fan wears out again after warranty, then you can buy a fan assembly on eBay or Amazon.
