Re: SCC Project starts a new phase in their quest for curing childhood cancers

I also got my first SCC's after the (very) long abstinence. I'm glad to be able to help SCC again.
I can't remember the run time of the SCC-tasks before the break.
It seems to be 4 times the runtime of a MCM1-task and SCC has longer checkpoint interval.
Checkpoint MCM1 every 10 minutes and SCC every 5% progress.

Great to have SCC back! It looks to me as though SCC is less than double the time of MCM.

Re: SCC Project starts a new phase in their quest for curing childhood cancers

If I rermember correctly, SCC took longer to crunch than MCM1 and OPN1, and the points/hour was considerably lower than MCM1 and OPN1. So SCC is nothing for those who crunch for points, that's for sure.

I'm going 100% SCC for a while now, just to see how good, or bad they work. And of course, to celebrate that SCC is back. smile

Friendly reminder that SCC runs far quicker on Linux.

Re: SCC Project starts a new phase in their quest for curing childhood cancers

I think that the SCC validator isn't turned on yet. I have some SCC singletons waiting for validation.

And while they're at it, they should change the status now for SCC from Intermittent, to Active.

Re: SCC Project starts a new phase in their quest for curing childhood cancers

Welcome back everyone!

And yes, because SCC runs far faster on Linux, anyone with Linux ought to hog as many of these tasks as possible, to increase system throughput. Any task that's prevented from going to a Windows machine leads to efficient work on both systems.

I got a bunch of SCC! tasks last night and according to my Boincmgr, three of them are running. But according to top, they are all sleeping, not running. In spite of this, one just finished.

What is going on?

I see the same behaviour. However, it doesn't mean that they are not running at all. wink (The CPU% runs against 100%.)
What happens, what do you see, if you use 'htop' instead, Jean-David?

Re: SCC Project starts a new phase in their quest for curing childhood cancers

They used to run faster on Androids. My Androids have picked up a few but haven't checked them out yet

Edit....Just had a quick look at one on an older Android. Running at 3.3% an hour compared with 2.3% on MCM. This is a really old phone so would expect much better throughput on the new Android Tablets in my arsenal, we'll see.
