I have been deploying new PCs at my work and BOINC install is one of the steps. I've noticed on the last three, over the last week, that BOINC will download 1-4 initial jobs (almost always MCM now) when the client starts for the first time. It will start working and then after 5-10% completion it will go to 100% and say something about "Project removed..." and in the log it says "Result xXxx is no longer usable."
----------------------------------------There's also a new line I haven't seen before about "Generating a new computer cross-project ID". Then it usually downloads more jobs to fill the queue and works as normal. Windows 11 x64, Intel i5-13600, 16GB-32GB RAM, etc BOINC 7.24.1 and BOINC 7.22.1 Log: 9/8/2023 2:08:38 PM | | Checking presence of 43 project files 9/8/2023 2:08:38 PM | | Running CPU benchmarks 9/8/2023 2:08:38 PM | | Suspending computation - CPU benchmarks in progress 9/8/2023 2:09:09 PM | | Benchmark results: 9/8/2023 2:09:09 PM | | Number of CPUs: 20 9/8/2023 2:09:09 PM | | 5464 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 9/8/2023 2:09:09 PM | | 32853 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU .... 9/8/2023 2:21:02 PM | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 9/8/2023 2:21:02 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Result MCM1_0203374_8388_0 is no longer usable 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Result MCM1_0203374_8412_1 is no longer usable 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Result MCM1_0203374_8425_0 is no longer usable 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Result MCM1_0203374_8421_1 is no longer usable 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID 19 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Africa Rainfall Project 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Help Stop TB 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Mapping Cancer Markers 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Smash Childhood Cancer 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Project requested delay of 121 seconds 9/8/2023 2:21:03 PM | World Community Grid | Generated new computer cross-project ID: 4c4afyyyyyyyyy(hidden as I assume it's unique) 9/8/2023 2:21:04 PM | | Suspending computation - CPU is busy 9/8/2023 2:21:04 PM | World Community Grid | Computation for task MCM1_0203374_8388_0 finished 9/8/2023 2:21:04 PM | World Community Grid | Computation for task MCM1_0203374_8412_1 finished 9/8/2023 2:21:04 PM | World Community Grid | Computation for task MCM1_0203374_8425_0 finished 9/8/2023 2:21:04 PM | World Community Grid | Computation for task MCM1_0203374_8421_1 finished 9/8/2023 2:21:48 PM | | Resuming computation 9/8/2023 2:21:49 PM | | Suspending computation - computer is in use 9/8/2023 2:22:00 PM | World Community Grid | update requested by user 9/8/2023 2:22:03 PM | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 9/8/2023 2:22:03 PM | World Community Grid | Reporting 4 completed tasks 9/8/2023 2:22:03 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 9/8/2023 2:22:04 PM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks |

I am just guessing here, but could this be an anti-virus application killing those jobs ? Or is there some (possibly corporate) permission missing ?

Not likely since it says the project is cancelling the job. Our antivirus is set to allow WCG/Boinc. Nothing is being blocked.

Q: The machines aren't by-chance cloned and have the same "client_state.xml" file in the image do they?
There's a write-up about how BOINC will regenerate the HostID once it detects a duplicate, and as I read your note I wondered if that was what was happening since (if I read correctly) once this happens the machines proceed to operate as normal from then on. See --> https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/HostId And --> https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Host_identification_and_merging |

No, set up individually.

Tried looking on my task list to see if I had suffered from this. - I had set up the jobs so that there was always a minimum of about 5% between the progress of tasks. I looked today and saw about four or five all within one percent of eachother. I realise that if there had been a gap in work available it would have had the same effect. If that was the cause it was too far back in the event log to show. I will have a look in the old logs and have a look there.
