Research update from the MCM team (May 2024)

We continue to characterise lung cancer biomarkers identified in the MCM1 project. This update focuses on KLF5, a well-studied gene that has been implicated in several cancer types. KLF5 is a transcription factor, which is expressed across numerous organs and tissues.

Hello MCM team!
First thank you for putting out those nice articles, it is very exciting to hear new development from you.
However I have a layman question, the article looks like statistics of a gene wrt survival rate. And I was wondering what effects of the calculations plays in those findings. May be I have missed some of your article but I couldn't find it. I've read the CONCORD article and it didn't give calculation details either. Or perhaps at this amount of data is so big, doing the statistic itself is the calculation we're running?
Cheers
Kefei Wu

Re: Research update from the MCM team (May 2024)

Hi kefeiwu,

Thanks for your question! The MCM project focuses on analyzing large datasets to identify diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive signatures. The MCM project, and the calculations volunteers complete, do not contribute to calculating survival rates. We just provide survival curves in our updates to offer some additional context about each gene's relevance to lung cancer. The survival curves included in this update were taken from Kaplan-Meier plotter. More details about the survival analysis can be found in this article by Gyorffy B: https://doi.org/10.1111/bph.16257. Let me know if you have any other questions about this and I'm happy to provide further clarification!

Hello,

Thank you for that update.

Could you please provide a characterization of the status of work regarding sarcoma?

Thank you.
