Just when I was getting used to account keys

BOINC Windows 5.2.8 is replacing 32-character account keys with passwords. Check these changes out: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php?platfo...on=5.2.8&type=win_new

[Wheee-e-e] I hope the BOINC experts will jump in when people start coming up with queries. I expect to just stand around and say duh-h. biggrin

Re: Just when I was getting used to account keys

Its nowt technical at all really the feature has been about since 5.2.7 passwords are been used now as it increases security if anyone got held of an account key they could use your account.

The recommended way to attach to a new project is now to go into BOINC and click on the attach to project on the project menu, you then tell it to set up a new account, enter your E-mail address and a password and off you go it attaches to the project and then you can go to the project webpage and sign in with your E-mail and password

Signing up the orignal way still works as well and if you don't set up a password on that sign up then you use the account key as a password until you change your password.

I don't know how it will work in your Hybrid situation here on WCG
