AIDS setback?

SO i heard there was some setback (on CNN or something) and their goal of slowing aids by 2015 may be futile. (*though learning from even a costly endevor is seldome futile). (basically it was like we have been barking up the wrong tree for treatment)

I know this project is its own research project, but is FAAH in any way hindered by this? (this seems like the perfect way to make up for all that time lost if it is totaly unrelated).

thanks again

Re: AIDS setback?

Hello Shinobi Gaiden,
This [ biggrin last ] year we have discovered that HIV spreads through the mucosal membranes of the gut like wildfire, killing ?CD4 T cells? in the first weeks of infection. It then has a harder time spreading to other tissues, which is why AIDS can take so long to develop.

This was not previously understood, but now that it is known a lot of scientists are studying the process and considering implications and possibilities.

It does not directly affect our research.

Or are you referring to some new discovery?

Re: AIDS setback?

thats probably it. Its probably something along the lines of not being ablet to treat someone effectively after that first stage you mentioned.
