That was a point I wondered about. I know of no way with the UD agent to stop it from downloading a new WU at the point it returns the "last" result from you. Even if you abort the agent during the download, or even at the beginning, does the WCG server still see that that WU was "assigned"/"sent" to you? That's what's so nice about BOINC. One click and you can stop it from getting any new work.

The workunit that is allocated to you will timeout and the work will be sent to someone else.
The system (both UD and BOINC) were designed expectating that a certain number amount of work will be abandoned. It is more efficient if work was never abandoned - but that isn't realistic, so the systems have timeout mechanisms in place so that the work will still get done. ![]() |
