Dust Puppy would. Erwin would. So why not join Team User Friendly to help solve the urgent problems facing humanity?
----------------------------------------Sid would hack the client to run on a pseudo-Babbage algebra device that operates with XOR, NOR and NAND logic gates. Pitr would hack the Pentagon, the CIA, and several blue chip corporations to run the World Community Grid on their networks. What can you do? (Without breaking any laws, please.) ![]() Team User Friendly Please, feel free to join us. Also, you may want to check out the comic strip: User Friendly, created by J.D. "Illiad" Frazer. Team User Friendly has today passed the 2 million mark. Congratulations, and thanks to all our members. This is a significant step on our path to
Our progress is still impressively close to quadratic, and I look forward to announcing 5 and 10 million point milestones in the next few months. I have a grin almost as wide as Dust Puppy's. ^_^ |

Team User Friendly has cracked the top 250 teams today. A minor milestone on our inevitable path to join those lucky few teams at the top.... :-)
FightAIDS@Home for BOINC has done only good things to our membership numbers, so here's a big thank you to the people who work so hard on the code. Thank you! |

Do we have any ideas on what systems or combinations of system/agent are doing the best?
I have my suspicions that Linux/Boinc may be a faster combo but that could also be because mine are less occupied than my WinXP boxes. Not as much other drain on resources. Thoughts? |

I can post some WinXP stats.
Computer demographics: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice core) 2GB DDR400 Dual Channel RAM allocated 10GB (max) hard drive space (SATA drives) DSL connection I have 2 computers with the above configuration; one has a rating of 194, the other has a rating of 195 (probably a math/rounding issue). Both machines run the WGC client 24 hours a day. With both computers working together, I average about 7 results (1,363 points) a day. In spite of (or maybe because of) my 195 rating, my average points per result (about 198) don't seem to be especially stellar. From 1/17 to 1/22, one of my machines wasn't returning any results, and I didn't even realize it until I opened the client and saw that there was a communication error. I'm surprised it didn't automatically try to re-establish contact. ![]() |

Do we have any ideas on what systems or combinations of system/agent are doing the best? I would like to collect stats by system type, but currently WCG don't expose the device stats in any useful way. In theory, BOINC and UD points should be allocated in such a way that it doesn't matter which you use. In practice, who knows? |

Illiad drew this for a different reason, but Dust Puppy's thoughts exactly describe what we're all doing here.

For the first time (probably, I wasn't looking) Team User Friendly was ranked #10 on yesterday's daily points.
I think we're safely past IBM Rochester and RTP, but we have a little way to go before we can make any further gains. Nearly all the teams in the top 10 are clocking 200,000 - 600,000 every day. So, congratulations! There is cake for everybody. And thanks to ChrisP for pointing this remarkable achievement out to me. |
