Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

Ron,
That is Evan Brown - the man who threw a pie in the face of former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien. That pic was taken after the incident. biggrin

biggrin Pic is great. Look on his face is priceless! I didn't know who is on the pic, or what's the story behind it... but believe you me I almost knew the story just by looking at it.

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

HPF2 will be using a different section of Rosetta code than HPF1 uses to do high-resolution refinement of a protein fold. So it is interesting to follow the debugging being done by Rosetta@home on their alpha test system (RALPH@Home): http://www.romwnet.org/dasblogce/

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

A new update just went up from NYU.

as to the date of publication question.
We have a yeast draft... but publishing science cannot be rushed.
The review process takes a while. Scientific writing must be exact.
Overall it is a huge pain in the butt ...
But without this rigour we would have little foundation on which to base the next generation of science. This rigour is why science works. So bear with us.

Well, we certainly are trying. 'tis been some time since we have all heard about progress.

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

Honestly, there has not been any updates from the scientists in a while. this is not acceptable. we the crunchers have put the time into crunching we should atleast be given info on progress.

if there is a problem with the project u should tell us! hiding anything negative will only make the cituation worse when its discovered.

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

I kind of agree with that. We used to have regular posts of rbonneau, the HPF project scientist. We also had one I believe from the FAAH project.

Of course we just had the newsletter, but the posts on the forums were always a lot more interesting, because it was more interactive. Other members could reply or ask questions and they were answered by the project scientists. That makes it a lot more understandable and easy to 'chew'.

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

Rosetta@home is posting a great deal about the development of the code that will be used for HPF2. I have no idea when we will start HPF2. My personal opinion is that it depends on when Dr. Baker is satisfied.

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

I seriously think theres something the WCG people are not telling us.

right before the HPF1 project was supposed to finish(i dont even remember when that was anymore!) i quietly waited and crunched, quietly waited and crunch......waited....crunch......and time just kept on passing by.

AND THEN, wouldn't u know?!?!,,,it was reluctantly revealed to us that with some of those Human protiens we were crunching plant protiens and yeasts and god only knows what else.

SO.....my question to the WCG people is what else are u reluctant to tell us?

P.S. this is the reason i withdrew support from WCG. Becuase things were starting to smell FISHY.(who knows, maybe the sent us some fish protiens to crunch, thats why it smelt so fishy)

Re: HPF1 -> HPF2

Conspiracy theory?

More information is always better, but we've hardly been left in the dark. Be reasonable, now! Dr. Bonneau is in here quite frequently to update us.

Meanwhile, there's plenty of FAAH units waiting.
