Hahahahaha oke to funny answer. Yes I like beer but not pilsener ![]() ... snip ... Why do you guys like to join a team? ... snip ... Being an American, most of the beer sold over here are pilseners, and that's what I grew up on, so to speak. I'm used to them, and might even try brewing a good pilsener myself if I had the necessary refrigeration. Besides the refrigeration problem, "variety is the spice of life", and I really enjoy experimenting and trying a number of other different types of ales, which are what I brew. As for reasons for joining a team here, I would imagine that most of the folks who join a team fall into one of these categories: 1. they've been recruited to join WCG by someone on a team, and that is the team that they are seeking to join; e.g., when I persuade someone to join WCG, I expect that they'll also join my HomeBrewers team, since I've recruited them; 2. they are already acquainted with stats and teams and the fun that they contribute, and they are seeking a team for that reason; 3. they have already joined WCG for any number of reasons, were not already recruited to a team, and are now curious about the team aspect; I suspect that you fall into this category. Personally, I crunched for several years without belonging to any team: first looking for prime numbers, and then with FightAids@Home which did not have its team feature working -- at least I couldn't find a way to form a team or join a team for the entire time I was crunching for them. I never bothered to google for any information about teams, etc., because I really couldn't care less; I was already crunching for humanity and had plenty of other interests. When I received notice last October that FA@H was moving over to WCG, I downloaded the new agent and was capable, for the first time, to join a team. I had always tried to encourage folks to join FA@H just for the good of the cause, but it occurred to me that I might be able to attract more people to join WCG if I formed a team with which they could identify. Since most of my online presence has to do with brewing, it was just natural to form the HomeBrewers and promote it that way. If I hadn't formed my own team, I probably would never have joined any other (not yet being aware of the fun of team competition), and no doubt would never had posted to these forums, either. I think that that's the way it is with the vast majority of folks who join WCG but then never join a team. Cheers. Bill Velek |
