Dear $DEITY, not this again.
My issue was with your inaccurate information. The midnight thing was merely something I thought you would find informative. If you resort to ad hominem again, I will be clicking on that "angry face" down in the corner. |

Well...
Thanks for the information. Now I've got WAY MORE than I really need. I was just curious about the discrepancy I happened to notice a few times during the days I checked my stats. I doubt I'll be able to predict exactly when the data update occurs, and, honestly, it's just not that important. I just want to give my team all the support I can, and a couple of hundred points floating around really won't make any noticeable difference. Thanks again for your assistance. FB |

You are arguing using a false analogy. Of course a day is 24 hours - that's not in dispute (unless you want to get into a deeper discussion of time and planetary motion - even relativity). But we are talking of a discrete point in time, and the standard is that at midnight clocks roll over from 23:59:59 to 00:00:00. ...except for the last occurrence on December 31, 2005 and 22 others since 1972. A positive leap second was inserted between those two points above at 23:59:60. Leap seconds are traditionally inserted on June 30 or December 31. 1972 was the only year in which both were used.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_second http://www.leapsecond.com/notes/leap-watch.htm A NEGATIVE leap second has never been used. In that case the clocks would go directly from 23:59:58 to 00:00:00.
