If this will make anyone feel better, it was well over 65 degrees F here in the bay area today, with clear skies forecast for the next week. Early Spring rites, anyone...

Thanks Diana, how are thinks going down at the farm? Mornin Akela, Thinks are going great at the farm :) One thing I missed was the farrier...he got there before I did and did Sweet Lips feet only. It was good cuz her feet needed to keep being done, as she was abused by her previous owners and left in her stall for 5 yrs. without EVER coming out, or getting any care or food. She was a sack of bones when Susan got her and one of her front feet was twisted around due to the growth of the hoof. But!! She is now fattened up, happy and her front foot is almost straight thanks to the farrier trimming her hooves consistanly :) This last time he was able to cut off a huge chunk since her leg is almost normal again, and she can use it now normally. It is so exciting to see!!! So I gave Susan the $30.00 so Sonny can get done when the farrier comes again next week. I bought some feed which turned out to be the wrong stuff (ugh) so I will get more when I get paid Thursday. I found out straight from the horses mouth haha the right stuff to buy: 10% Sweet Feed. So, the Mor-Molasses (pure sugar) I still can use by mixing it in with the grain, and the sweet feed and feeding the neediest horses the extra calories. I checked into the price to get Sonny gelded, and found out that if it is freezing cold, it can't be done because the drainage from the castration would freeze.. YIKES The next big thing I need to check out is if my Dad has some extra wood he'll let me have to give to the farm to build a storage shed to put the sawdust in. Right now it gets delivered into the section of the barn that has the Clydesdale's in and it isn't the most convenient place. My Dad has a sawmill in one of the old barns, and also has logging going on in the woods so he always told me if I ever need wood to ask, so now's the time :) The baby Noel is soooo awesome! I love her. We are going to start really desestitizing her to human touch now. She really was an 'accident' because when her father got gelded, the put him outside to quick before he healed and I guess he still could become a father (Susan didn't realize that total healing for a month is necessary to finish the gelding process) so they never realized and then Noel was born last month outside and thankfully she survived and now she is all legs!!! Oh my goodness she is sooo sweet! My nephew's camera got broken, so we're gonna get a new one to take better pics than my cell phone...so I'll be adding more pics soon. Hugs to you!! Diana ![]() |
