Spam?

Has there been an issue with spam connected to this project. A friend of mine used to be a member but left the project because of spam. I have never had any problems with spam related to this site. He wants something more reassuring than my word before signing up again.

Re: Spam?

I have no idea about the situation before FAAH joined the World Community Grid (when they used the Entropia client).

But World Community Grid don't spam, and don't release information to spammers. Check out the privacy policy.

At the moment, the only email sent are newsletters (only if you request them - check your preferences) and a single follow up email if you seem to have left the World Community Grid.

Re: Spam?

K-J,

Before launching FightAIDS@Home and the first anniversary newletter that came with it, we didn't send out (spam-style) any emails at all. The only email your friend might have received was his password, which can happen when someone tries to recover the password for a member name that isn't theirs.

Currently, besides the forgot password email, we only send out a quarterly newsletter (so that's 4x a year), and an email if a member hasn't returned a result for 60 days (just started doing this in March). If the member remains inactive, they don't receive any further "inactive" emails from us.

Pretty low traffic if you ask me.
