Hi
I've been running BOINC for some time now on my machines all running all of the projects. My laptop has real problems running hpf2, gets stuck and I need to intervene and ditch the WU. I can't seem to change the profile of this machine so it just crunches FAAH. This is what I have done ... Go into device profile and create a new profile which just runs FAAH which I'm calling 'Lappy'. So now I've got two profiles, 'Default' (that runs all projects) and 'Lappy' (that just runs FAAH). I then go into device profile again and select my laptop. When I try to change it's profile to 'Lappy' I only have 'default' in the drop down menu and there is no sign of 'Lappy'. When given the option of resetting all my machines to a single profile, both 'default' and 'Lappy' are in the drop down list. Sooo .... what am I doing wrong here guys and what do I need to do to get my laptop to just crunch FAAH? ![]() |

Unfortunately, and i tried many different combinations of device profiles, i in the end had to admit that its not possible for a single member to set different profiles for different devices running on BOINC under a single member.
----------------------------------------Arduous and not the best is creating your own 'sub-team' at WCG......we can at our Team, but we run our stats away from WCG. Create a second membership @ WCG and a profile with just FAAH. Then add both memberships to the sub-team. No idea if WCG permits this, but both can still roll to your regular WCG team. Downside is, you wont have a memberview anymore with your total contributions. PS with the UD agent you can set different devices with different profiles/projects, it's possible you created a UD profile...... BOINC only has work, school, home profiles with which you can tune many paramenters like run times, but all use the overall "My Projects" projects. ciao

That is correct. You can only specify projects at the user level with BOINC. To specify projects at the device level, you have to run UD. That's been true since the beginning of WCG working with BOINC. Martle can run UD on the laptop and specify a profile that runs FAAH only and continue to run BOINC on any other machines.
