Hi, I use beos and I get 'missing library' when I try to run boinc. I know this one guy from email that has ported some programs before, maybe he might be able to do this but I'm going to need some replies on what works.

Hello BeOS Mr X,
Here is an unhelpful comment I found using Google ( http://www.bebits.com/app/3085 ). On December 15, 2005, the original SETI@home project was terminated. A new version, based on BOINC, has taken its place. Unfortunately, at this time, no BOINC client exists for BeOS or its successors. According to the BOINC build page, the new client requires gcc version 4 or greater. Once BeOS gets this version of gcc, perhaps some other aspiring BeOS/Zeta dev will take up this application and create a new, improved alien-detecting cycle-sucker. Another worrying thread: http://haiku-os.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=39...596e8aa5f2485b35e6ebc6dc1 Who do you know that has done this? Lawrence |

wow, you're smart for that reply. I found this
http://haikunews.org/960 Marcin "ahwayakchih" Konicki, formerly known as Shard, has posted his port of GCC3.4.3 to BeBits. Sharing a page with Oliver Tappe's GCC 2.95.3, it is the first publically available GCC3 for BeOS. maybe hope is not lost btw why is there a red angry face on the forum posts |

Hello BeOS Mr X,
The red, angry face is a way to send an email to the staff complaining about a post that breaks the Forum rules. Lawrence |

Prefer the search engine 'Clusty' which is a brand of www.vivisimo.com ** which gives a nice index in left margin of the searrch results....they actually tab into the libraries of multiple search engines. Tastes differ.
----------------------------------------http://clusty.com/search?query=BeOS+GCC3+version+4&tb=ie-searchbox ** The name could be translated as something like Most Alive.

BeOS Mr X, even if you do get BOINC working under BeOS, it almost certainly won't work with WCG unless you can use some form of emulation mode. This is because WCG can't release the science application source code so they don't allow anonymous platforms to request work.
