I am unable to run my Ad-Aware Virus scan on my computer since downloading the WCG Agent...I had no problems doing this before downloading the agent, and would like to know how to delete the agent so I can run scans again on my machine and properly protect it! Thanks.mmackay@bu.edu

Ad Aware doesn't scan for viruses. I think you have more serious computer problems than a freezing issue. I strongly advise you to get an expert to take a look at it.
As with any program, the WCG software can be removed using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. |

I also have AVG Anti Virus and there are no freezing problems here. It also has no problem checking for daily updates.

Ad-Aware only looks for and removes 'spyware', not viruses!
----------------------------------------http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-...&subj=dl&tag=top5 i use it all the time with no problem. try opening task manager and look at your CPU usage to see what is taking the most computer cycles. I also had trouble with Ad-Aware when the UD agent was runing, it freezes up the system. Got the answer for that, shut down the agent before scanning! Or maybe try Boinc

How about me running UD Agent and BOINC simultaneous in 2 threads on my HT machine and ThreadMaster controlled CPU time and Ad Aware running very cosily at a designated priority of 10% CPU time.....its Ad Aware that actually sucks the live out of UD Agent and everything else running but never did it freeze my machine completely. AA just takes all it can get.
----------------------------------------....fear Margot Dana MacKay and JeromeD, u have to call Houston or run some system diagnostics. Come to remember, does Ad Aware not have some sort of Real Time checking agent.... Maybe we're talking Ad Watch? That is only in the paid-for edition! In that case u can contact AD Aware support. http://www.lavasoft.de/default.shtml.en

Maybe that because I'm still running that Win98SE crap! It just love to crash anytime...

Hello Margot Dana MacKay,
To shut down the client, right-click the icon in the systray, then select Exit (or Snooze as an experiment). You might want to go to Start - Programs aqnd right click to create a duplicate icon to put on your desktop, making it easy to restart the client after AdAware is through. Lawrence |
