Re: Limited to two work units a day?

I have managed to change a setting about connecting to the net ever .4 days or something? I was told about it in the first thread I posted on the site about my dual core cpu (see here : http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=8434#68772)

Is there something I've missed?

Re: Limited to two work units a day?

Normally you get that message because you have been returning invalid results. The normal quota is much higher. Please check your recent results.

Re: Limited to two work units a day?

I must admit I've not been using the PC due to having some problems with it, so would that be why its not giving me anymore results?

I think I used to have about 4 or more lined up when I first installed it. Its being left on today to test the system (I've overclocked it and use Orthos to test stability for 12 hours plus, no errors) so today is the next test :) I'll let you know how it goes and thanks for the reply :)

Oh, how often does Vaio turn up on this forum?

Re: Limited to two work units a day?

First likely source of Erred Results is Overclocking! Have a look here and see what the status reports for the last series of Work Units u returned were. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewBoincResults.do

There is an algorithm, which as you send back valid results will open up the WU tap again, albeit slowly.

For testing CPU/System stability, Distributed Computing tasks like WCG are the best.

Vaio (Italian for squirrel-fur), posts once in a while.....do search http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/search type in his exact name, case and all and u find where he is.

ciao

Re: Limited to two work units a day?

Its not been because of the overclocking I can assure you!! Its because the PC hasnt been working (parts been sent on wild goose chases of RMA's for one) and its simply not been working..

Its been on for over 10 hours now and its been nothing but fine :) Its got two units working on and 2 spare :) I assume thats about right for the dual cores isnt it? Its requested work 6 times since the PC has been turned on. Yet in the stats its only returned 1 result since?! It was updated 4 hours ago or more but my points have flown up!!

With the dual core system, when you have the two cores working on two separate units, do they count as one or as two results?

I do have 3 pending for validation I guess, would they take long to do?

I've known Vaio for awhile, just trying to track him down!!

Re: Limited to two work units a day?

Hi Phill23

Looks like sek is offline atm so I'll get this one...

With the dual core system, when you have the two cores working on two separate units, do they count as one or as two results? Each WU counts as one, so you will be credited with two. Each of your cores is being treated as a seperate computer in this case. smile

I do have 3 pending for validation I guess, would they take long to do? Validation takes anywhere form 0-10 days depending on when results are returned, or not. It can, rarely, take longer. There is no way of predicting this as different people have their machines set to various reporting regimes.

Also as Sek stated these DC projects are the ultimate workout for your system. You will find for example that your system will continue to "heat up" for as much as 48 Hours before it reaches a stable temp. That includes memory modules, cpu, Northbridge, you name it....

Hope that helps.
Cheers. ozylynx smile
