Re: Team UserFriendly.Org closing in on 250 CPU years

Try this again. It is a bit of a pain to have to upload images to a web site first.

:-D

I'm liking the look of it. Now, how to create another of those upward kinks in the graph? Hmmm....

I updated the graph and probably will semi randomly in the future.

A couple of more to play with.

Re: Team UserFriendly.Org closing in on 250 CPU years

250 CPU years may not seem like much against the 62k years of the entire World Community Grid. I plotted Team UserFriendly.Org's time against everyone's. It hardly got above the horizontal axis.

I was reminded of the line about a few flakes working together can make an avalanche.

I thought about putting my averages on this graph since it is the only one where I show up above the horizontal axis.

Re: Team UserFriendly.Org one year anniversary coming up

Congratulations. You've been a super contributer. Today is the HomeBrewers first birthday; we're waiting right now for our 365th stats posting tonight to see whether we managed to advance to #103. We were doing better until about 3 weeks ago when our team captain's computers messed up and we took a drastic hit on points since then. If not for that, we would easily have made it into the top one hundred before our birthday, which was our goal. crying Of course, that's not saying much as compared to your team, but then again we started with just me and grew very slowly without any sort of organization to help promote us. Nevertheless, I will say that I have mixed feelings. A year ago when I created our team, I never gave a thought to making it into the top one hundred and probably would not have thought it possible; on the other hand, I did optimistically expect to be able to recruit hundreds and hundreds of homebrewers from the various brewing groups to which I belong. Well, that was a bitter disappointment, as was my extensive recruiting efforts in many other venues, including cancer groups. Gosh, if you can't even interest people dying of cancer, things aren't looking too good. Can't remember which thread, but someone recently posted something -- maybe in the chatroom -- which summed up the sentiments of almost everyone: if someone on the Internet asks you to download and run a program, be very suspicious. Well, I think that about sums up the problem with recruitment.

Anyway, crunch on, everyone, and good luck with the coming year.

Cheers.

Heh. Thanks Bill. Truth is, without people like geopsychic, afterburner (fakirii) and Illiad, this team would be a mere shadow of the thing it has grown into.

And thanks, geopsychic, for the graphs. I'm planning on celebrating the anniversary on the founding day, the 24th. Our first stats day was the day after. We had 2517 points.

:-D
