Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

Hallo Mateus,

You cannot delete or merge devices at WCG. What does happen is that the view of devices when opened only shows the recently active.

WCG's logic is designed that if clean reinstalls are made on computers with the same OS/IP/Device Name/Processor, the same device is assumed to have been reattched to WCG i.e. no new device is created.

Sorry.

PS: These are the server records checked for newly attached clients:

os_name
host_name
ip_address
p_model

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

The problem is that I used the grid at my ex-girlfriend's house. And I need to remove these devices from my account. Or change the names. ;/

Where I can reclaim about that?

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

Ah, girlfriend software version 2.0... for that there's only the girlfriend software version 3.0 which automatically un-installs 2.0 and that costs even more money. Presume she knows it's on her computers, and if she does not and she finds out, she'll be running ex-boyfriend software version 4.1, which has a Harry Potter function.

Seriously, do I understand your ex-gf still contributes with her computers to your account? Send here a mail or give her a call and tell her and what needs done to stop BOINC... maybe she leaves it alone. You could open a new member account and attach your computers to that account, which is when of course you start accumulating points from zero. Then rename the old account to something anonymous only you know.

You could contact WCG support@worldcommunitygrid.org if you wish to keep the further proceedings confidential.

Let us know, or not.

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

You can't.

But in some time(about two weeks) they wont be shown in the device manager.

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

Mateus

Boa sorte !

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

I am not sure that Sek and GIBA see the problem from the right end. My personal guess is that somebody (Mateus and/or new GF) does not like to see ex-GF's name in the list of devices. smile
Mateus, ask support@worldcommunitygrid.org to rename your old devices to something neutral. They cannot be deleted but I think they can be renamed.

Re: How to delete old devices from my account?

Yes, that's what I meant with 3.0 ;P

Think the admin cannot, that used to be with the UD agent that we could change device names independent of how the host device was named in the OS... the change in Linux even simpler than on Windows. For BOINC that control is driven from the ex-gf client ;-)

Sunday, afternoon, Live.
