new signature

There is a new signature created by a fellow cruncher Snurk. Go here to request one:

My signature has it in there. Really kinda cool.

curious

Geo,

Is your nick because of your profession? I am currently taking Geology 101, and was kinda curious.

Re: curious

I am a geophysicist. I got the nick when I went on an aftershock study and found that the motel had the reservations listed as the Department of Geopsychic Sciences. I figured that someone knew more about how the department worked than we wanted generally known.

Re: curious

Yup, I have the graph site bookmarked.

I just really like to have the team site up so I can see how everyone is doing in the bunch I am listed with.

It also allows me to see how I am doing in a much better day to day comparison way.

I have 2 devices active with WCG, both on the same box. One runs all day and the other all night.

The daytime one is Debian testing and the night time one is Ubuntu 9.04. By checking the Ufie site I always know my stats from the day before and the WCG site gives me the 12 hour update.

Lets me know how the stable and not so stable OS' are doing in comparison.

Boinc is a great thing to run on a testing OS if you really want to know how stable it is. When the CPUs are cranked out and it still holds up you have a pretty good OS.

9.04 never blinks with the CPUs at 99 to 100% and 6 populated workspaces, some with multiple windows open including 3 Firefox windows.

The only break I have to give to Debian or Ubuntu testing OS' is to cut FF down to 1 permanent window and 1 occasional window. Pretty solid OS' but not like an old stable OS.
