I love Sci Fi and when I came across this team I thought, "Minnesota society for Interest in Science FIction and fantaSy" cool, just for me! I was searching for a new team because all my past teams have been associated with my employer and my current employer didn't have a team. I'm also from the midwest.
----------------------------------------The membership is small, but there are active systems somewhere because we still rank, and it was nice to see the statistics and ranks inch up a notch or two because of my involvement. The listed captain "geohard" is AWOL, or rather didn't respond to an email through WCG-e-mail captain, and the MISFITS group at large no longer goes by that name. I found the current manifestation of the group here under the name "The Geek Partnership Society". http://beta.geekpartnership.org/wp/about-gps/ Anyone know any of the current or past members of this group who would be able to find out if the captain is still involved in WCG or GPS?? Any other mid-westerners or anyone want to join me on this team? Thanks in advance for your consideration. [Edit 2 times, last edit by burkhart77 at Apr 1, 2013 6:37:52 PM] |

Use this link to join me! If I am the only active member of this team I'll probably move on...

Cool name for a team. but I am already in "MyOnlineTeam". I retired in 2010 from IBM and there are plenty of IBM teams. I wanted to join a team that is not associated with any employer. Have you taken a look at MOT to see what kind of discussions we have in the forum? Also, have you seen the previews for KickAss 2? It looks like it might be much better than the first one which I did not see.

If you want, you can contact the WCG admins and, after going through their process, they can make you the captain of this team. There's probably something about this in the FAQ. From what I can tell, you do seem to effectively be the team. Up until the last week, there seems to only be a couple of thousand points a day. The top few point totals on the team look to be for members that haven't return a result at least this year. There are plenty of "teams of one" out there. You can stick with it and try to grow the team but it's a long hard slog. Most users here at WCG never post in the forums at all. Good luck which ever way you choose to go.

Thanks for the responses. I did just read today on the forum that someone requested to be the new captain of some other team if the old leader went AWOL however I don't think Team Of One is what I want. It took me a while to find out that I was really the only contributing member of the MISFITS team.
MOT seems awesome. Challenges and good rankings and lots of forum participation. If I can't find a good regional or disease specific team I'll think about it. (plus that banner rocks) KickAss was really good I thought, i'm more worried about the usual sequel issues (overdoing whatever worked in the first movie, or a weak plot because you know people will come if they liked the first) but I'll still go because the first one was a GREAT movie. |

<wcgrid@us.ibm.com> is the email address to start the process of being made captain of your team. I had to go through the process to replace the "non-responsive" captain of my team. Basically they will email the current team captain and will give them 14 days to respond. If she/he does not respond, or they get an invalid email alert, they will make you the new team captain.
----------------------------------------Good luck. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by yoro42 at Apr 13, 2013 12:04:06 AM] |

Thanks, there's a lot about an international team that I think you'd like. It's great for perspective! ![]() |

Thanks for all your responses, and believe me MN Crunchers I was about to join you a few months ago when I found that other MN team that seemed to fit one of my favorite hobbies, so I went their way. I have read your thread every once in a while and love your attitudes!
I had one person join me in the MISFITS team, and sent an email out to current friends asking them to join me. Assuming one or two bite I think I wouldn't mind trying to keep the team going for a while. |
