Re: Temporary slow down for Drug Search for Leishmaniasis

I only need 6 more days of CEP2 to get Sapphire as DS4L is out of work.
I will then be leaving WCG as there is no more badges to get.

Hey, don't leave WCG only due to badges! Sorry, of course it is your free choice to do so, and I know that the following will be sort of a cliché: While badges are a motivator to push forward, remember that there were no badges just a few years ago...BUT the diseases and corresponding projects were all still there!

I mean, what do human lives and all this reasearch mean if there are no more badges left to collect...might as well pat oneself on the head and go "well, I've done all that I could do!". Not trying to be rude, but to /me/ it is simply not something I can interpret as a valid reason to stop contributing to important scientific projects. Because ultimately, badges mean nothing, while one's contribution means everything.

And, you are forgetting about the Beta badge. You have Bronze now, just as me and there are Betas running for FAAH (should be active still on Android). Pretty soon there will be more Beta work/projects I am sure.

So, hope you'll find reason to stay on WCG - with total transparency to the existence, and achieved level of, badges!

Patrick, after you get sapphire you aim for 3 years. Really this is all about advancing science. The badges were created just for fun.

Cheers coffee

Oh, ok...didn't know of that thread. Thanks!
I thought it sounded very strange the way the post in this thread was written. Ok, then I understand.

But still, having WCG turned on while PC is idle or one is only surfin' the Web, it can be of no harm can it? No need to 'leave' WCG altogether perhaps?
