With a new project out, it is always nice to know what to expect from the WUs. Scientists, techs, and beta participants, please share any details (such as CPU time compared to current active projects, CPU time variability, RAM used, checkpoint frequency, android availability/suitability, etc.) about the WUs that are relevant for volunteers. This will be a great help determining which machines would work well on this project. Looking forward to a new project!

I am crunching my first WU: First checkpoint occurred after about 8 minutes (5%) (windows 7).
----------------------------------------Edit: and then checkpoint occurs regularly (about every 4 Minutes)

You want stats? Watch this:
http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/projet.py?projet=World+Community+Grid (Just select the exact WCG-subproject on the left menu bar you want to read about.) You just need to wait until the first units are crunched and being returned. Right now, I only see MIP beta-wu's being processed at my crunchers, so they will only show up on the stats site once they are being identified as MIP-wu's. Those data is drawn from Boincers that run and use this special Boinc-project in order to create an accurate database. Of course, the more Boincers use it, the better, the quality of the data will be...... Enjoy! "Crunch'em ALL!" ;) |

Crunched 3 of the new MIB units on a 2600K under Linux Mint 18. So far, very consistent on timing, 32.5 minutes, (.54 hours) with Boinc credit of 10.2 points. No problems.

Seeing the very first on Linux, at 1.6Ghz, 4 finished in just over 1 hour, batches 3,4,5,7. Got some running on Windows 10, at 3GHZ, with 1.75 hours and running, 15 minutes projected to finish. Is this a 'VINA like' experience?
----------------------------------------edit: So they took just over 2 hours on W10, Creationist (just discovering that the Defender Firewall has tremendous impact on the elapsed time i.e. sucks lots of cycles away... How to set it to not 'watch' the BOINC RPC traffic that goes over localhost/ip 127.0.0.1?) [Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Aug 22, 2017 10:51:14 PM] |

Is this a 'VINA like' experience? So far, for me, they are running slightly shorter than any of the VINA projects, except for those ultra short FAAH units. Cheers

Well, got 13WUs across 8 different hosts so far. Nice to see that those also run on older systems running a 32bit OS, like some tried and tested Windows Server 2003 machines...
----------------------------------------What makes me wonder though if those are going to be as sparse as those HST WUs? ![]() Ralf ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by TPCBF at Aug 23, 2017 5:35:52 AM] |

Does anyone know if this uses any extensions (SSE or AVX)?
