Has anyone come across this problem
On the BOINC Attach to Project Screen, it asks for a project URL My friend has tried: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ He has also tried: www.worldcommunitygrid.org When either is entered, it advises THIS IS NOT A BOINC PROJECT, PROJECT NOT FOUND Any idea why? |

Did "your friend" create a BOINC account first at WCG? See "my profile" section! He needs to copy the account key there and user ID before he can attach.

Did "your friend" create a BOINC account first at WCG? See "my profile" section! He needs to copy the account key there and user ID before he can attach. He is attaching his PC to my profile and has logged in using my account name and password He has done this 3 times in the past with 3 other PC's without a problem This is what is so perplexing! Here you'll find pretty much all on BOINC Wiki If you use the most popular search engine it pops up a known case Not Known Boinc Project  Thanks for your help SekerobWhat had happened was Norton Internet Security had put up 2 advisory screens asking for permission to allow the BOINC Client and BOINC Manager to access the internet My friend had authorised the BOINC Manager but was not aware that there was another pending authorization screen hidden behind his open programs, which he had missed After I asked him to check his firewall config we was able to isolate the problem and give the BOINC Client permission It is now up and running, so all is well |

That one snags many Windows neophytes. You might point out to your friend that experienced Windows users shut down running programs before installing new software
