This coming autumn and winter at least, I'm not going to crunch much at all. On October 31st, my relatively cheap electricity contract will expire, and the new contract will be 5-7 times higher in cost/kWh, which will make it impossible to spend almost anything on crunching. I'm on a fixed income (retired), and on top of extreme electricity costs, there's also high inflation, with rising food prices and other rising living costs to take into consideration.
----------------------------------------So, even if WCG comes back to what it was before the migration to Jurisica Lab/Krembil, my participation will be almost nothing from November 1st, compared to what it used to be. I doubt the current situation will improve before the Ukraine crisis is resolved, I believe the same will apply for many other participants here, maybe mostly for European participants (including the UK), but also in a lesser extent for crunchers from other parts of the world. I'm in a paused mode for WCG right now, as we are having extreme hot weather. I'll be back to crunch what I can when it cools down here.
I totally understand that processing WUs with the state of things in the world right now may not be possible. Come by and say hi now and then even if you aren't working on the project. I hope for the future to be better, but it is rough now. |
