Re: WCG Runtime Error!

I too have had this error about 6-8 times in the last few days. I just recently added WCG to my BOINC projects having run various projects for many years now w/o ever seeing this type of error message. When I did a Google search for the "exit code 3" error message. Several hits came back from other BOINC projects like SETI, Einstein, and Rosetta and most thought the problem was a virus scanner, defrag, clean up utility, or spyware check scan going on and locking one of the BOINC folders while it was doing its scan. When the project tried to write data at that time, it errors out because it cannot find the valid path. There must be something unique to the way WCG does their code because I have never seen this error on the other dozen or so projects I routinely crunch.

BTW, I run Trend Micro PC-cillin Interent Security Suite 2007 in case that is relevent.

Sorry I can't help with a solution but at least I am part of the problem laughing

Re: WCG Runtime Error!

The questions the technical staff may want answered:

0. Device / Computer ID... a 5 (soon 6) digit number found in message log.
1. BOiNC version.
2. Mode it is run in, client, service, screensaver.
3. Operating System.
4. Update level like SP2
5. Antivirus program and version
6. Software Firewall and version
7. Spam filter if any and version
8. CPU brand, type, speed.
9. Ram Size.
10. Video card and status of drivers.
11. What browser IE7, IE6 (these are OS integrated for Windows)
12. Any other u feel relevant
13. Cuts and past of the quorum detail for the problem work unit(s).
14. Relevant portions of messages / error logs.

For BOiNC, look is the message log file "stdoutdae.txt" for anything that is related to the invalid Work Unit error like memory alerts...disk or ram and copy past into your post.

Were there processes going like Front/Background Disk Defraggers?
