Might be a good idea to start up that old UD agent for a while if you are running Windows

Don't let a slight technical hitch slow you down

Keep 'em crunching

That's what I did, David. Never uninstalled it after starting with BOINC and keep it current by running it every few days overnight. Not as many points as with BOINC but it's good to have "old reliable" in reserve. laughing

Cheers.

cool keep those CPU's glowing

I have have just 2 boxes left with BOINC work to do. The stats spike when "normal BOINC service is resumed" should be amazing biggrin

It's a good opportunity to see the stats sans BOINC to see how the UD'ers are doing and the contribution the BOINC agent now has within the WCG. Christmas Seasonally adjusted it's a good 1/3 of the total output in terms of run time given that UD had almost a years head start on BOINC the take up is about 50:50 BOINC V UD

Interesting thinking

It is also quite easy to setup a other BOINC project as backup project : http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=BOINC_Powered_Backup_Project
The backup project setup, set a low resource share for the backup project, so the BOINC client downloads work from the backup project only if the primary project is down.

A list of the different BOINC projects : http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Choosing_a_BOINC_Powered_Project

Also, I recommend every body to setup a backup project or attach at some BOINC projects, if it is wanted to keep the systems crunching, if project will be down.
A higer WU cache will also help to keep the systems crunching, if the project is down. The default is 0.1 days. But set the WU cache to 2 or 3 days is a good value.

That's a good idea Dotsch to keep that valuble resource which is our spare crunching power a crunching.

Please bear with the IBM Crew I can vouch they are working around the clock to get us all BOINC'ing away as soon as possible. As soon as I have any more news on progress I'll post it here.

It's at times like this you really appreciate the normally amazingly smooth operation we get used to every day from IBM - the folks are working on restoring the service instead of doing their christmas shopping - now that is dedication to duty

Are they having any problems with Tivoli?

I would be interesting to know the technical side of WCG, hardware and so forth. I thought since IBM was providing them the hardware that WCG would have a Shark or three doing flash copies and using TSM to back it all up. Just being very curious is all. thinking
