Re: progress on the project

hey y'all
My cruncher finally ran a genome comparison unit last night. I think that was the first in a month, and it ran w/no difficulties. Very interesting to watch.
My Org. Chem. is rusty, but a few things are recognisable. Now, this one is from Brasil, that is, the research?

Hello 7cures,
Yes, Genome Comparison is a Brazilian project. Here is the description: http://www.dbbm.fiocruz.br/GenomeComparison

Re: progress on the project

The software used to run the comparison is described here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_showcase/fgc/viewFgcMain.do . Also follow the link at the bottom of that page.

Based on the Work Unit count we're now at about 32.5% with over 700 CPU years done. That suggests that about 2200 CPU years are needed to completion and not the estimated 1644 CPU Years over at the Fiocruz website (at beginning of the project). It will finish much sooner too than the 205 days estimated on December 21,'06.

cheers

Re: progress on the project

So basically the project is someting like 65-66 days from completion.

That's not all that long.

A "small" project only a couple of millenia in computing time.

Yes and it seems that FAAH will not last much longer. I really would like to know, what project will come up next if the current projects are finished biggrin

Re: progress on the project

FCG is still in it's first round, there's at least a second one. HPF2 is expected to hit the BOINC clients sometime in the near future. FAAH is IMHO far from running out of WUs. And there's the cancer project. Oh well, and this muscular dystrophy project is scheduled for summer 2007. Plenty of work to do... smile

Many Brazilians might take offense to that...
