Re: progress on the project

OHHH!
It is a Brazilian project???
Cool!
I like help the poor countries!

Many Brazilians might take offense to that...

As a Brazilian I must say that most people in America and Europa have a very lousy idea of my country. Brazil is a rich country, maybe richer then many so-called developed countries. Our politicians are also our main problem. And I could blame the US or even other lands that have exerted a very negative influence throughout our history, but I don't think it's gonna help at all.

Re: progress on the project

The only negative perception many have i think is the massive deforestation and the impact it has on world wide weather, and most impacting the heart of Brazil and its region. Predictions are, and its happening already, that a new equatorial desert will develop accelerated by global warming..... a Global Responsibility, something to ponder over.

Genome Comparison is a great Brazilian developed life science project, very suitable for machines with low specification and dial up members. After the initial bug, it's running like the proverbial train (Dutch or German or even Italian, but not English ;-)

i know, but 'Sekerobs progresses' is just a "based-on-earlier-known-statistics" progress, this was an official one...but Sekerob is most of the time always right so in fact you're right... smile

Re: progress on the project

A small milestone, the World Community Grid, just completed at lunchtime 1,000 CPU years of crunching on this project.

Based on the official reference Genome Comparison website the progress percent has been recalibrated to 47% or 1.804 million out of approximately 3,8 million work units. At present pace we should be done in 40-50 days.

Give you all a big hand.

Re: progress on the project

Impressed..... based on the lunchtime stat numbers. The 205 days and 1,644 CPU years remains though a bit off-ish on their site. At 51% we did 1,067 years. That extrapolates to about 2,092 CPU years. GC will be done in about 40-50 days, depending on what other projects do at WCG and how quick or slow the batches of work continue to process.
