Sekerob, Thanks for all the work you do.

Are the points being granted the median of the three machines or the average? There's a difference between median and average, right?

Re: Boinc Credits

What language?

Per good old Merriam-Webster
median:
2 a : a value in an ordered set of values below and above which there is an equal number of values or which is the arithmetic mean of the two middle values if there is no one middle number

synonym see AVERAGE

Re: Boinc Credits

Short answer: it used to be the median (with some additional statistical manipulation). Now it's the mean, with a lot of very complicated additional statistical manipulation.

Re: Boinc Credits

Replying to my own test. I got significantly more points doing Boinc vs. UD. So, Boinc it is!

So mean it is, smile. In statistics, the median refers to the middle value of a set of data. So to be statistically correct, the granted credit is the mean of the three (claimed) credits and not the median.

Of course, Merriam-Webster is correct, hehehe, but my question spefically refers to the results returned by three machines in WCG.

The median in this case would be 69.9 but the mean is 71.4. Since there is a middle value in this set of data (69.9), it would be incorrect to say that the granted credit is the median of the claimed credits since the granted credit is 71.4, which is the mean of the set.

I have a 6700 rig, running Linux no less, and I'm not having any issues.
