just a short stop to say hello to all and to report that I made a bit of progress in crunching as well. cheers. Good deal. I have had problems getting HSTB for the last couple of years, but by jiggering the queue, I am finally getting bunches. The research says they are at 100%, but if they are still sending, I am running them. I am getting close to 2 years worth. Some other things are at 5 years and 10 years.

Hi retsof
Neither of the links in your sig are working just now. Not sure if it's temporary or not. |

Hi retsof Neither of the links in your sig are working just now. Not sure if it's temporary or not. I guess I will have to wait for a little while. The page you requested is currently unavailable because the statistics are being updated. The statistics update will finish in about 0 minutes 0 seconds . Yeah...I know....I see what it is. I had some of my own links in the SIG to save space, but it is a result of the paragraph below. I am buried in a lot of other details working up an auction so don't have time to mess with it. Someday I will put something different in there. I had to take my own website down. The ISP got bought out by somebody in India and they were hassling me about malware getting into THEIR server and ruining my site. They wanted to charge me $50 per month to "fix" their own problems, so I pulled the plug. On the research page here, they pulled the percentages since they are uncertain. Everything is just in process now. Oh well. I do what I can. One thread here was hoping for badges for more than 100+ years. I am lucky to get 5 or 10. I did add a little computing power. Another one has problems and can't find the internet in Windows 10. There are lots of people posting about this kind of problem. I knew I wasn't going to like Windows 10. Windows 7 64 bit is great.

Post your views on the new research page in the comments thread. I'm sure you will know better than anyone how little good it will do, but we can at least try to make them see it's not well liked.

There's what I said about it in the website support area. The other messages were similar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Progress bars? I hate them. I don't see any progress. What I see is Something Something Something Something Something I know percentages can vary a lot, but we used to be able to see which project was winding down, and assign more computer cores to that one if we were close to a badge. I know that projects can decide to send us another pile of packets. That is OK when it happens, but this is just another thing that got dumbed down so they don't have to change it more often than every two years or so. I guess I will just have to spread the work around in case some random project is finishing and something changes to EEK.

Open Zika moved to the "closing soon" appearance.
----------------------------------------They are getting the last 20,000 workunits ready, and it may finish in Sep. or Oct. If you are close to the next Open Zika badge, this is their final warning.

I am getting Help Stop TB, but it takes a special technique of tinkering to hunt for them.
----------------------------------------I have 4 1/3 years now and am trying to get at least a 5 year diamond. Two other projects are 10 years, so I am not doing any more with those. Fortunately, Zika was one of them because they are getting close to the end. I have to have a day or two of other projects with 5 year diamond badges to keep the computers busy. Then I change the projects to HSTB only. A few times per day I might get a few HSTB in the queue, but there are not many of them around. They only come out at certain times of the day so the queue has to have available open space for them. When the computer winds down on other projects, I change the project list to the others I want BRIEFLY to request an update and get another set of downloads. It may download 20-30 at a time, depending on the computation estimate. Sometimes it forces a two minute delay to get an update. I then close it off again to select HSTB only. If the queue is left to fill up with other things, you will not get any HSTB at all.

I picked up a little more computing power last year.
----------------------------------------I have desktop computers running (Win7 on old AMD) 6 threads, (Win7 Intel) 8 threads, (Win10 Intel) 12 threads, and one ruggedized Intel Win7 laptop running 4 threads at half speed to keep the heat level manageable. Another second hand Intel Win10 8 core or thread game computer is being cranky. There seems to be some well known problem getting Win10 on WiFi. It doesn't see any networks, even though it is sitting right next to another computer that does. Even the other Win10 computer connects properly. I have tried a few different recommended things but so far, it is still stuck. It will run, but just not access the internet.

How are things Retsof? Is the treatment going Ok? My crunching may reduce a fair amount in the next few months as the temp goes up. It's already noticeable to me how warm it is getting just now in the rooms with the crunchers working hard. So things will probably taper off over the next week or two until the autumn. Treatment is finished. PSA was only 0.2 for the last year so that minimum level is considered a success. I hope it stays there. The last few days were 106 F or 41 C outside. We have double pane windows with a low-E coating all around and efficient air conditioning that only runs now and then, so inside temp is fine. Crunching continues.
