Wrong Processor Information

Hello, the UD client is listing the wrong processor for my computer, which I feel impacts performance. It says I have an Intel 06F6 2.7GHz processor when I actually have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Wrong Processor Information

Hello Fergman88,
The UD client was programmed back around 2002-2003. It does not know the names of the current processors. This does not affect the work.

Re: Wrong Processor Information

Not quite the whole story, though: the UD client can't deal with dual core processors. It will only use one core.

I suggest you try BOINC instead.

Re: Wrong Processor Information

Use BOINC. BOINC will use both cores.

Re: Wrong Processor Information

I'm sorry, you are wasting your time. WCG have already solved the problem - with BOINC.

The UD client is written by United Devices, and is no longer actively maintained.

Use BOINC, it is (as I so frequently say) much better. Migration instructions here: http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm

The grid.org forum disappeared at 12:12 pm on Friday, April 27, 2007. All you get is the closed page now.

BOINC has a fairly good idea of what we have:
