Sea Fever

I MUST go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
Betterstill my Gps
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.
Well this is August in England what do you expect Sun?
I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide
" I think that is where I left my Glasses"
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
"At least I didnt take my hearing aid out so at least it is clear"
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
Its always windy by the Sea and those damm Gulls are a pain
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
"would do that but Gm has taken theBl**dy Van"
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife; "said it was windy"
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
"A smile I can take but that nutter that keeps larfing I cant cope with"
"Rover, now no more alas, now run by a Chinky company"
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
"down to Gm again will he leave anything in the pussers flagon"

Well, my experience of sailing is limited to (a long time ago) one trip helping to take a boat from Poole Harbour to Shoreham mooring overnight at Cowes. I just thought 'I wish I had the money'.
A friend had a better idea. He invested two weeks of his holiday going to sailing and navigation school and from then on was in constant demand as a crewman and, when transferred his work to Hong Kong finished in their boat for world wide competitions.
All the sailing he ever wanted without spending a penny.

The time has come, the walrus said.....
to speak of many things...
Of ships, and shoes, and sealing wax,
and cabbages and kings...

But not tonight!
