I guess this is the place made for dreams (Suggestions/Feedback). A couple of thoughts regarding the information displayed by the Local Agent came to me last night in a dream (okay, I wasn't asleep yet, just thinking things over before I went to sleep).
With 44,474 members running 62,787 devices, there are several among us that are running multiple devices. Some are like me with only two while others have large farms of systems they are responsible for that are running the WCG application. I thought that it would be nice to be able to see how much each device had contributed to the project on the Local Agent display in addition to seeing the total points and total run time for the member. A second thought regarding the Local Agent relates to the daily update of the statistical data available online at the WCG website. It has proven to be more than a bit confusing to have the Local Agent reporting a different contribution in points and run time than is seen in the online statistics. If this were changed to show the total member contribution broken into two elements: the first would be the points and run time from the member's statistics the last time the Local Agent interacted with the WCG server along with the date and time those statistics were compiled (since some of the work units run for a couple or more days, the data might not agree with that currently on the website); the second element would be to report the points and run time generated on this device since the last update of the statistics available online. |

Agent of Dreams:
A) last result returned: project, timestamp, hours run, points awarded. B) local log with management functions like firewalls have. Developing and debugging this could be quite a timesink, so I would prefer to see new Agents without this, but it would be a nice addition to have in the long run. |
