After reading a ton of stuff (from both camps) trying to get my head around this, I stumbled onto this by doing an antibodies+hiv search on Google. http://www.virusmyth.net/aids/data/vttests.htm This person argues rather specific against the tests we have discussed here. Basically he says that they are not reliable. Further he points out that HIV has NOT been isolated. Is this really true? Cause it would kinda be a bummer for the whole HIV thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durban_declaration The Durban declaration was a statement signed by over 5,000 physicians and scientists at the 2000 International AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa, affirming that HIV is the cause of AIDS. The declaration was drafted in response to statements by South Africa president Thabo Mbeki, who questioned the link between HIV and AIDS. At the Durban conference, 5,000 scientists from all over the world, including eleven Nobel prize winners, signed a statement calling the evidence that HIV causes AIDS "clear-cut, exhaustive and unambiguous." Chris_no, that does not appear to be a reputable source. There is all sorts of junk on the Internet, and you can find pages supporting the most absurd claims.
Please use your judgement. |

Why do they look for antibodies instead of the virus itself? Or is that what the PCR does? To me it makes much more sense to look for the bad guy than count the cops. hmmm in analogy, if in search of a nuclear bomb, one goes to look for radiation. Similar, the HIV virus is very good at hiding and cloaking, but those antibody signals give away it's there. The trash ushered by some purported 'leaders' is amazing. The SA president went about to say that lemon juice and garlic was a better preventative. The archbishop in Nairobi meanwhile topped it off and said that preservatives were intentionally impregnated with the HIV virus.... currently there is a complete calamity on the dual-epidemic in Africa as HIV and TB infection are now going together and people dying within months after contracting TB due the weakened defences. Similar studies show HIV and Malaria amplify mortality. It's a catastrophe of apocalyptic proportions.

I searched for isolate+hiv+pure and found this site.
http://www.aegis.com/topics/hiv_exist.html It's the other side of the coin. Having read it I feel in favor of the exist camp. So I will again let my computer crunch aids units. If nothing else we may discover an non-toxic alternative to AZT. |

Indeed it was not. However at the time with my limited knowledge I had no way to judge if it was correct or not. That's kinda why I asked you guys in the beginning. |

New Mexico has one of the better testing methods in my opinion. They use an oral swab(ora sure?) to test for Antibodies to HIV. If that comes up positive they will then do a Western Blot to as a 'confirmation.'
I had one false positive out of about 10 tests I done while living in New Mexico. It takes about 2 weeks in that State to get back your result at a local free HIV clinic in Albuquerque(NMAS) unless they have to do additional testing such as Western Blot then it might be a 2 to 3 days late on a suspicious sample. The person walked in with my result one time and said, 'you tested positive for the hiv antibody' then paused and said, 'but, the confirmary tests showed negative so you really don't have it.' I think I might have had a slight cold at that time which is known to throw off HIV antibody testing at times. A person cannot get back any result in New Mexico unless in person and your verified to be that person. They have counselors on standby if you were to show up positive. I would agree that doing a 'polymerase chain reaction (PCR)' to test for the actual virus itself would be the quickest method to finding out. However, I've found that asking them to do a PCR blood test is like asking for borg implant as Antibody testing seems to be the standard and cheaper method. I'm not even sure if most doctors even have a clue what PCR testing is much less hearing a patient ask for it! |

Also, I think alot of doctors have the opinion that if you have it then you have it and there is nothing they can do about it. So why not just wait the 6 weeks to 3-6 months for antibody testing?
Like I said in my experience asking about or for PCR testing is like asking for a borg implant as doctors don't even seem to know what it is. Best bet is still HIV antibody followed by automatic Western Blot confirmation if needed. I now live in Minnesota and the police here seems to be just an Antibody test to start off with. 20min Antibody test kits which could freak people out who don't really have it. A bit irresponsible possibly...but, maybe a compromise for those who otherwise would not show up to pick up test results. |

Yeah, back in 1990 they looked at me like I had just beamed down from the mothership (in fact, I had beamed down a few days earlier). I had to call Specialty labs and get the protocols for preparing and shipping the sample. They tried to talk us (gf at the time - or as I like to call her - the ex-box) into the antibody test, but I wasn't feelin' it. For anyone who is interested and wants THE DEFINITIVE test for HIV infection, check out HIV qualitative PCR test by Specialty Labs There are probably other labs around now that also do it, but this is the one I used. ![]() ![]() |
