[HOSTNAME] Ubuntu 7.10 with boinc 5.10.8 can't get work unit
Hello, I have installed a Ubuntu 7.10 (the last release) and it cannot get new unit. The log file is very short.

So the problem is, how can I give a host name to my computer ?
Becaue I ever have a USERNAME and my desktop too (USERNAME-DESKTOP).

Did anyone get the same problem ?

On the web site I have a new profile named "wilgard-desktop" so it proof that, the client found the hostname. No ? crying

Given you have 10 tasks to report, you seemingly did have good connection before, so what changed?

Did you cycle your route/modem and OS to refresh the system?

The Host name is usually the same as the Device Name registered at WCG Device profile, so have a look there to see if the name recorded there makes sense.

Added: See you were posting added info while i was typing.... so is that name related to the name you gave the OS/Computer? Presume Wilgard-Desktop is not the one that has the 10 jobs waiting for the tasks to be reported.

We are starting to see a smattering of these problems. Can you try the following please on the Linux machine in question:

ping secure.worldcommunitygrid.org

ping www.worldcommunitygrid.org

Also - can you update to the latest version of BOINC for Linux? You can get it at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Next, create a cc_config.xml file in the BOINC directory with at least the following information:

<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<http_debug>1</http_debug>
<http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug>
<proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug>
</log_flags>
</cc_config>


Then restart BOINC and force an update for WCG.

I get the version 5.10.8 because I use Synaptic for getting the application.
I have reboot my computer and now the message has change. The client gets new work units :D. I have one unit which is in running state and others are in waiting state. But the time stay at 00:00:00 and when I do a "top" there is only the process boinc_mgr but not a process wcg*.exe.

So boinc running in the wind. :(

OK now it work :) :) :) I don't know why. But task is running and the time changes. I hope It will continue for others units.
