Perhaps I've misunderstood what should be happening here. I did switch my profiles over to allow HPF2 work so there would be no interruptions, and indeed my BOINC clients all have since downloaded HPF2 work units. However, there's been absolutely no automatic abort signal sent to any of my clients. Was that supposed to happen automatically? They're all still chewing away on HCC units. I did an update a moment ago, no abort happened.
----------------------------------------EDIT: I should add I'm running a mix and match of BOINC 5.10.28 and some 5.10.30 on Vista machines (testing that out). [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 16, 2007 10:30:41 PM] |

Work that has been started won't be aborted.

Interesting. That's not what is happening here. The HCC work units in queue continue to start and be processed, even after recently communicating with the project. Oh well, at least they'll all be cleared out shortly.

Oh well, at least they'll all be cleared out shortly. Same story here. Nothing has been automatically aborted. I did manually abort some that were just about to start but others are still queued even after communicating with the server. Guess I will abort the others in the queue too. ![]() ![]() |

Last night, I added HPF2 to my profile, where I had only HCC before (and I left "If there is no work ..." checked).
----------------------------------------But on two of my boxes, I'm getting other work, too. Do I have to remove HCC to get only HPF2 work during the HCC outage? Thanks. ![]() |

Hi Goedel,
----------------------------------------It's very well possible that the HCC mass job cancellation caused a substantial drain on the available work in the feeders which could have caused the chance of momentarily not getting the work elected, but rather 'alternate work' In principle when work of choice is not available there should be a message log entry stating so. Before going into project selection, *No* just leave HCC selected and it will come back whenever it is re-launched. Asto the project selection themselves, there are 2 places to set science selections: Of course there is the outside possibility that one/more/all of your machines does not qualify for HPF2. Again you'd see a type of message in your log at which time the 'alternate' work option would also kick in. Let us know if you have more questions cheers

Thanks, Sekerob. It looks like all 3 of my comps qualify for HPF2. I hope to see more HCC tasks soon.

![]() Both machines rolled over to faah and dddt without problems. Hopefully the outstanding WUs will clear quickly. |

does this mean that all HCC units that have been computed are worthless?
