All is quiet on The Macon, Georgia, USA, Front.
All too quiet. Should I worry? Bob doesn't think so ... carefree type, that Bob. As time goes by you start reflekting - just taking that underused 'k' for a much needed walk My upstairs neighbor Yvonne is my friend. We are the same age, we both live alone, and we are both only childs? children? child???? Mr Trumpf entering to the rescue: They have no sisters. No sisters. No brothers either. Neither sisters nor brothers. No siblings. No siblings whatsoever. None. Thank you Mr Trumpf, exactly what my words would have been, could I find them ![]() So instead of lying around and rot and foul the air, we implemented our private morning security text system this week. We could join such a senior security phone chain where one starts calling the next one, who calls .... oh, Mr Trumpf, could you take over, please? "Sure! One calls the other who has been called by the first who called the next and the next calls the next and the last one gets back to the first one. Nothing to it." Ahem ... well, yes. Problem is: those chains starts in the morning. In the morning. Early in the morning. Too early in the morning. Really early how am I doing, Mr Trumpf? ![]() Far too early for Upstairs Yvonne and me. So we text. Just the two of us. Short chain. Very short chain. Our phones are muted. No noise. No disturbance. - I think I learned it ![]() It works. And Upstairs Yvonne and I still live. ![]() ![]() How about Unchaining yourself and join me in Macon, Georgia, USA. Working for the man or rather his Team - The Survivors? And learn that song by heart ![]() |

Please allow me to introduce the Captain of the team Base Camp will visit now:
![]() NAP2614 is the Base Camper who wanted to go Base Camping, but who needs a rest. He is a stout man of 80+ and of Cymry / Irish decent. He is the caregiver of his wife who suffers from Parkinson's disease, and went off to The Korean Conflict in early 1950s. He likes his life in the West, grows a beautiful flower garden and has an interest in poetry, which he may have inherited from his mother who wrote poems about her life and the nature surrounding her life. He's a dedicated cruncher who has conscripted several family members and friends forming Team Boise Idaho. ![]() I should be very pleased if old Base Campers as well as novice ones would visit Team Boise Idaho in order to honor my friend, Neil, and the team he built. I just moved my address myself and hope to see many teepees next to mine ![]() |

Thank you, deltavee
![]() I see the skidmarks from where you pulled out but I cannot even begin to count all the spots where the snow melted under your deltavee teepees nor bend my neck back far enough as to see the top of the lone stray redwood reaching into the sky ![]() - have you given up Hexagame for good? And how are you? |

nap, I hope more will join Team Boise Idaho for this trek.
----------------------------------------It's hard to get in touch with the oldies, and newbies may not be interested. Let us give it some time. deltavee's contribution will make up for anything. It's through the roof. I also notice he arrived three days ahead of the trek being formally announced. A whisper of your name would suffice for this attentive Texan. So he put in four days of serious crunching. B2I made an entry in the "4 letter word game" and I send him a wild card invitation him, hoping he would return - but no. Crunchers, you are invited to visit Boise Idaho to honor NAP2614. The address is: Boise Idaho Latitude and longitude coordinates are: W43°37'7.9716'' N116°12'54.0684'' We will send you an expert homing pigeon to lead the way if you prefer. ![]() It is not dangerous to change your team affiliation. You can return any time - but of course we would wish you to stick around for a while, and nap would probably like you to stay forever. Those who command a multitude of crunchers are welcome to ship just one. ![]() See you ![]() EDIT: Didn't have my facts straight. deltavee made a JITD (which is used in the automobile industri - Just In Time Delivery). Otherwise we would have seen a wood/forest/grove of Redwoods in the picture in the post below this one ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 20, 2017 6:44:50 PM] |

- just to show you what a difference the Father of all Base Camping can do ![]() Many little ones can make a difference, too, so come along I Never Promised You a Rose Garden but nothing shall prevent us from growing a lot of them like nap does ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I AM CALLING YOU
TLD, a few times I have noticed you riding past USAFA82, captain of the Christians, I know you know how to split an army lighthouse, I'm not sure you read my subtle message B2I, you were a Base Camper, I hoped you might see my invite while you swirled around in the revolving door of the Four letter game PecosRiver, you may be to tired to Base Camp. Are you still baking bread at the biggest bakery in the biggest state south of the 49th parallel north? sujo1, where are you? Not that you can leave Serious Crunchers now you are a captain, but it has been a while since I saw you manning the bridge. Are you all right? nanoprobe, didn't you go on a trek or two? And all you new crunchers who have not tried team work yet: Why not test it here? Later on you can move to a team that take part in CHALLENGES. Granted: Teams are not as great a thing as they used to be on WCG (this could be a song) but we still have a number of active captains reporting daily or at least frequently in their team threads and attracting new members. Noone needs to be 'screwed down for life' as they say in John Irving's "Hotel New Hampshire". Not in solitude, nor with one team for life. Why not try 'em all? - did you ever watch "Bagdad Café" about the German Housewife who leaves her husband in the middle of someplace - could be the Mojave Desert - and aquires a very fulfilling life with her new friends? ![]() Great truck, eh? ![]() ![]() |

NAP, I just made a roll call and the only Base Camper answering was me - well, and yourself.
----------------------------------------thepeacemaker7 is curious enough to ask questions, and I did my best to stoke this purchase signal. I trespassed into one of the serious business threads to get in touch with B2I and succeeded. However, he is not ready to take a break from his Gridcoin team. I guess we shall give it some time. Have trust and confidence. Oh, was that what I said yesterday, too? ![]() I went to the library to pick up some things I had ordered. At the checkout desks was a boy who asked for assistance. He could not get the thing to read his bar code. We tried all the logical steps: me checking his desk, it worked, checking his card in another desk, it didn't work. I couldn't bear looking at his disappointed eyes behind his spectacles, so we made a deal: I checked his Barbie and Disney DVDs out using my account, and he promised me to return them in time. He had confidence in me - and I'm afraid of children but melt when they address me with confidence. And I trust him. Trust and confidence. Trusting each other and having confidence in each other. That's a main ingredient in what has made my country what it is today. Populated by a people ranking #1 for several consequetive years in the World Happiness Report This year we took one step down the ladder and Norway became #1. Judging from this thread it seems as if I trust a little boy with a sincere gaze through spectacles more than I trust BOINC ![]() You will also still find this trust displayed along our roads with fruit and vegetable stands and even by a beekeeper selling his honey in a middle of the forest I walked today. When you open the roof of the beehive, you can serve yourself to glasses of honey and pay the money into a box in cash. He also takes MobilePay ![]() EDIT: Fixed a dead link - this is happening far too often to be accidents on my behalf ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 22, 2017 5:15:44 PM] |

Gehakte leber
----------------------------------------I dreamt of original gehakte leber i New York. I looked into it at home today. I can taste the food more or less when I read a recipe. The gehakte leber was almost 'leverpostej' - liver paste/paté as I have eaten all my life. Only the liver paté tasted from more. I add thyme to the liver mix. So, I prepared liver paté which is eaten on white bread when warm, black bread when cold. Roasted mushrooms and a little bacon along with pickled beetroots and you have a meal. I made plenty to serve at the campfire tonight. And tomorrow, too. A cool Juleøl is the perfect companion. So hurry up and join nap's team Boise Idaho Cheers! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 24, 2017 10:05:36 PM] |

Your welcome to stay with team minnesota if your old team doesn't want to start up again. Call it base camp minnesota! Thank you very much, Bearcat. It gives me the chance to explain again what Base Camp is all about.Normally - and that's what teamwork means to most people - you choose at team and stay with it. You are loyal. Base Camp is not a normal team. In fact Base Camp is not really a team at all, which gives us certain liberties. I think you once called such a thing 'wiggle room'. Base Campers are loyal and free to roam at the same time. If there is a cause for roaming/trekking, it's a double pleasure. Base Campers have their own teams and trek if they feel like it. After having dropped some points, they return to their own, original teams. Say you wanted to go on Base Camp's current trek, Bearcat, you would join team Boise Idaho which means you would leave Minnesota Crunchers for a day, a week, whatever, and then return to Minnesota Crunchers and slide right back into you parking space there. I'm sorry, but this is going to be a l-o-n-g story, so get a cup of coffee and put your feet up. Not long ago I was a member of Minnesota Crunchers because I imagined - and imagining is an important Base Camp ingredient - I could give you some long distance support during your trip to hell (the discogram), Bearcat. While I was hibernating I was listed with team Crunching@EVGA, but I didn't produce any points for them. Didn't have BOINC installed. That's how low my mood was. When I took up crunching again in August I joined Episcopalians. That's a team deltavee runs or ran. I did it because deltavee is a good friend of mine. We used to communicate a lot and he told me many interesting and surprising things about what life in Texas is, and he was a good support when I was on my way down. But we haven't been in contact since I left WCG around 2012. We are - it seems - in contact halfway telepathically inasmuch, as deltavee has showed up on several Base Camp one-woman treks, which is a good feeling. The feeling of non-team teamwork. Him keeping an eye on Base Camp. After some days, I moved to Multiple Sclerosis. Captain yoro42 keeps his team afloat in the Forums Team Section all by himself. It looked a little lonely, so I thought I would keep company with him for a bit. Then I joined the Knights Who Say Ni! the reason being that branjo found my SNURK sign in the attic and gave it to me in a clean and sparkling state. And also because branjo waltzes so well! On to Marist College, one of the WCG top producers. They don't need any help or support from me, and it is mainly for "Marist College Students, Professors, Staff, Information Technology, and Alumni". But I once lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, home of Marist College. And recently I went to Columbia University, George Washington University, Howard University, and Georgetown University. So I thought that should count for something, and I made a footprint in the wet concrete. Next I visited Minnesota Crunchers. Your team, Bearcat. The reasons being that you remembered me for many years while I was away from WCG (bjdbest - Beverly mailed me your posts asking how I was doing) and came here to say hello when I returned. We e-mailed a bit; that petered out, but we have this sporadic Forums contact which I like. You were up for some real torture, so I imagined (again: imagining) I could support you long distance by joining your team. That's when deltavee fired up his Crunching Farm to the intial surprise of Capt. Joe (you cannot shake that man for any length of time): It took a while, but I solved the mystery. Deltavee came to visit us for one day, then returned back to his home team, The Austin Grid Team. Thanks to Deltavee for the one day stay. And all of a sudden it looked like a real Base Camp trek. I have looked for deltavee at Austin Grid Team as Capt. Joe mentions but couldn't find him. When your pain returned to "normal" - yes, chronic pain patients have "normals" of their own, right Bearcat? - I moved to The survivors. Captain RCC_Survivor wrote me such a touching note upon my return to WCG that I HAD to thank him this way. And by the way: Are you all right, rcc? I see grumpy regularly, but not you. And again: deltavee broke the ceiling, so it felt like a real Base Camp trek. Right now I am with Boise Idaho. NAP2614 has been a friend of mine for several years, and he was an avid Base Camper. He would have joined me Base Camping if he had had surplus strength, but caring for his wife who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, taps all his energy. And once more deltavee was attentive and showed his support with all of his machinery. I had hoped that more people would have done so, because I have a feeling that it means something to nap, my stout old friend. But anyone who has a heart can still join nap's team Boise Idaho for a bit. I'm not about to end this trek tomorrow. Bearcat, I promised you to return to Minnesota Crunchers if you should undergo surgery to have four more discs fused. Hopefully, the non-invasive brace treatment will be the solution for you. This roaming is not what they teach you in the U.S. Army (or in the U.S. Navy for that matter - some think too restrictive thinking induced into the men/women to strictly obey commands even as another ship crosses their path may be the root cause of some bad mishaps within a couple of months). Independent thinking and doing have advantages of their own. For me, I get to know many crunchers which is uplifting, and we communicate which is the salt of the earth to me. Bearcat, your proposal was just about the cutest I ever had. I'll rejoin Minnesota Crunchers again for a while when I dream up a reason, but I'll stay a Base Camper. Free as a bird or as my signature says: ⥠biaxaake-taatawe ⥠-the name White Horse, a Crow crunching lady from Billings, Montana, gave me at the old UD, meaning as far as she could work out "Duck who wants to be free" in Crow. adriverhoef, are you paying attention: introducing Crow |
