Little Mermaid,
---------- What I remember (if I kept everything I read, I could write an encyclopedia). Is it that in some parts of Europe (Germany and Switzerland in particular?), There are squirrels that eat a lot of mushrooms. And between what they store and their droppings, it promotes the spread of spores. Concerning edible mushrooms for humans, in France, in all the pharmacies one can ask! Just show his basket (bag ?), and they tell us which ones are good to eat, and which ones to throw away. And only if I prepare an omelet with porcini mushrooms would I not go and ask. ![]() BladeD, Congratulations, Knight of Rosie ! ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 11, 2018 12:53:48 AM] |

You’re welcome, BladeD, it’s well deserved.
----------------------------------------stefada, that’s a wonderful business plan your pharmacies have developed in France. And altruistic as well. One would think they could get a better profit selling antidotes … Do you get the evaluation of your ’harvest’ for free? Good Morning Base Campers! Business SNURK and friends is awaiting the participation in the THOR Challenge 2018 Y3-W1 starting September 24. It’s an impressive list so in the meantime we intend to man up the best we have learned and already today we have a new member whom we hope will stay with SNURK and friends after Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek is over. ![]() to BobMcGee You have already earned the badge for this trek ![]() Sometimes we force those badges on crunchers ![]() ![]() Chit-chat Busy day. I’ll see my blood doctor, go mushroom hunting in the rain and proceed to wash my car ’Rosie’ for waxing tomorrow so she is shiny when I go to Copenhagen to view our Queen Margrethe II leave her royal ship ’Dannebrog’ to be freighted on shore to her castle by a chalup Expect my posts to be few and far between … ![]() EDIT: How will you cope with hurricane Florence in NC, BladeD? LM - Weather alert says we won't be impacted until Friday evening. I'm 200+ miles inland. In fact, I'm closer to Myrtle Beach SC than I am to Virginia Beach VA. A lot of people around here are losing their mind. You'ld think we've never had a hurricane come through before. They're acting as if we were right on the coast. Guess we'll see how it plays out.
----------------------------------------At least I got the new roof on the project house before this as the old one had developed a bad leak.
One drop raises the sea.

Little Mermaid,
---------- It's free yes! The only thing is that if there are a lot of customers, we will surely ask us to wait to serve them first. It takes time to examine the mushrooms one by one. In fact, I never thought about it before, that I always saw it, and everywhere I went in France (Brittany - South West - Alsace): When we finished mushroom picking, we go to the pharmacy check that they are all good (unless you are with someone who knows really well). I do not know where it comes from. Perhaps the pharmacist is the one who is the most knowledgeable in medicine, so we're going to ask, we're not going to bother the doctor for that? Maybe simply, that going to collect mushrooms is done a lot in France, and that without that we would have epidemics of poisoning? In general, it is an opportunity to go for a ride, and then share a good meal and harvest. For example: The last time I was there, two in an hour, we had picked up a little more than 5Kg (a good corner) ... In other words, we gave a part, and made a 'monstrous' omelette with porcini mushrooms for 8 (you bring the bottle of red buddies, we have fresh mushrooms and farm eggs). In any case, it's super convenient. I use it especially for chanterelles. In the region, there is a cousin of this mushroom, which looks like two drops of water, but with which one catches a [strike]carbohydrate[/strike]no tranlatable? ==> big ? indigestion (not deadly so, but very unpleasant). I already throw at all, that I did not have one of good. But it's always better than being sick. And if I do not say stupidity, not once there were not at least some that we should not eat. In short! I think it's more of a tradition, than a 'mandatory service' in a pharmacy. But if you come to France, and during a walk you come across a mushroom corner: Enjoy it now that you know it! It's so nice to eat fresh produce that you picked yourself, and it's even better if there is no risk. ---------- Good luck, and all the better for the new roof! You must be used to hurricanes, but when you are far away, it makes you worry. My little brother lives next to the Osorno volcano in Chile. The last time he really moved, and it happened on all the TVs in the world, we did a videoconference: He was dead laughing! We are used, everything is planned, at worst, we will be evacuated in 30 min if really there is need. It's a bit silly, but it's reassuring to hear from people there. So, please, have a look around on Saturday, let us know that everything is fine. ![]() |

stefada, I'm proud to say that I found an entire basket of mushrooms
- many different kinds - they tasted very well - and I still live NixChix, I like the decal collection on your aeroplane. Perhaps we should take up an old tradition and make a pin-up badge some day. I also share your enthusiasm for the Grande Finale with the Thor Challenge. ![]() Good Morning Base Campers! I hope all of you have braved hurricane Florence and the water she brought without harm of any kind. Business I share NixChix's enthusiasm for the Thor Challenge which SNURK was kind enough to enter us into. SNURK and friends is in itself a sturdy team, but I think we'll need more crunchers to join this trek, if we shall do una bella figura. So, please join us! You get cake, a badge and the chance to thank SNURK for your sign in a tangible way. ![]() Chit-chat Not much to say. Our Queen Margrethe II arrived safely on shore from her royal yacht, and after a salute of 27 firings, she did pass and as tradition bids wave especially to the four of us standing at the railing of the frigate Peder Skram - American built and owned, but manned with Danes during the Cold War and bought back to Denmark at a relative bargain price to be restored and serve as a museum ship. ![]() |

![]() With the hurricane, it took a little time, but with friends we found how to do it: They will pass under! A little surprise for SNURK. For tomorrow normally. Well, stefada, I have to take a dive to see if I can find out what you're up to ....
My curiosity outsizes my patience by many submarines NixChix, a co-cruncher collected a signature from a 'mermaid' in Disneyland. Could it happen to be your daughter? |
